Jezebel’s Island: A Mystery Thriller by Gabriela Marie Milton – A Presentation
Gabriela Marie Milton
My dear readers and subscribers,
I want to take a moment to present my upcoming novel: Jezebel’s Island: A Mystery Thriller. The book will be released by Literary Revelations in late June or early July.
Step onto Jezebelโs Island, a shadowy realm where reality twists and nothing is as it appears. In this world cloaked in secrets and deception, truth flickers just out of reach, while unseen danger stalks your every move. Who was Jezebelโa ruthless murderer, or a misunderstood victim? The stories whispered across the island contradict themselves, leaving chilling gaps and unanswered questions.
Unravel the tangled web of intrigue: Was Steven truly the son of the former governor, or merely a pawn in someone elseโs sinister game? Does Anastasia carry the fate of the island, or is she doomed to repeat its darkest legends? Each answer uncovers deeper enigmas, as betrayals and hidden motives emerge from the shadows.
Prepare for a haunting journey, where every clue uncovers another secret and every revelation brings fresh uncertainty. Coming late June at Literary Revelationsโstay tuned for the truth behind the crimes, the endless deceptions, and the mysterious inhabitants of Jezebelโs Island. Who are these enigmatic figures populating a dystopian world, and what destinies entwine their fates? The answers may be more disturbing than you ever imagined.
From the Foreword
….But what is it? We see only glimpses of it, here and there. Our characters never grasp it permanently or totally. It is always a dawning, impartial, and intermittent recognition, symptoms that point imprecisely behind themselves to some hidden origin. It concerns the Cityโs ultimate sickness, rooted first in the great crime through which it was founded, second in its effort to neutralize, if not forget, this history, and third, in the fresh crimes it commits in Anastasiaโs day.
The latter are the softer crimes of established and abundant societies, those crimes of the spirit, freedom, and truth which occur when citizens no longer push for the society that could be, and instead accept the one in which they find themselves or fantasize about a return to an older status quo.
The question lingers: How will Anastasia live up to her name?

Jezebel’s Island: A Mystery Thriller by Gabriela Marie Milton – Coming in June at Literary Revelation

My dear followers and subscribers,
I am absolutely elated to share the exhilarating news that my novel, Jezebel’s Island: A Mystery Thriller, will be published by Literary Revelations this June!
A short Excerpt from Jezebel’s Island: A Mystery Thriller
…….thirty years ago.
We were in the main square of the town when he appeared among us. It was hot; I was sweaty, dusty, and very thirsty. I carried a wicker basket full of tomatoes, potatoes, and cauliflowers. The braided strap had cut into my skin; it was heavy, very heavy. The bright silks hanging from the merchantsโ stalls trembled in the dry, burning wind. The afternoon sun seemed to melt over people and things like a boiling river.
I felt its rough touch; my back and hands ached. A moment earlier, he had given a coin to a begging child, who had thanked him, closed his fist around the coin, pressed it to his heart, and then bent down to kiss my dusty feet. I parted from him with a strange sadness. I donโt know why, but that day I wished the sky were purple. Yet the sky was never purple there. I was looking for an ice cream vendor when I noticed his blue eyes, expressionless, the eyes of a winner…
-Yes, he had the eyes of a winner. Winner’s eyes exist, just as there are bricklayer’s hands, three-eyed frogs or prostitutes. He turned to me and said: I feel lost in this City, Miss. Could you help me? He wore a wrinkled, dirty suit of a cut I had never seen before. Later, I was to learn that it was a military uniform. I asked him: Where did it come from? He didn’t answer me. He laughed, and the skin around his eyes gathered into deep wrinkles. I told him: To this place no one comes and from here no one leaves. Then he burst into even louder laughter. I felt myself being watched and looked around, but everything was the same…
From the Foreword
In Miltonโs novel Jezebelโs Island, somewhere between the motif of quest and goal, thereare several gnoseological, political, even moral obstacles. That is why this novel is structured as an investigation over which, as we come to know half-truths, other layers of ambiguity are superimposed. This fact results first of all from the gnoseological interdependence, maintained by the author, between the characters in the book. In the constellation of the plot-investigation, Jezebel and Lady Swarthy represent the points of emission of some fundamental information that the reader needs to pay attention to.
At the other end of the circulation on the Island is Anastasia. She is the witness, the recipient, and the actor of events destined to place her between necessity and chance. As the first characters appear on the stage (Anastasia, Jezebel, David), readers are not yet aware of any biographical details of their existence. The narration begins like a cinematic tape that is suddenly set in motion….

Experience the enchanting collaboration between Japanese artist Hikari and American poet Gabriela Marie Milton in Haiku and Tanka: Lull, Harmony and Power in Japanese Art. This stunning poetry and art album gracefully bridges Eastern and Western sensibilities, inviting readers on a vivid journey through tradition, perspective, and creative imagination.
Hikariโs masterful paintings immerse you in the splendor of Japanese art, each brushstroke echoing the beauty of cultural heritage and the depth of historical narrative. Her tanka, deeply rooted in Japanese traditions, transports readers to landscapes and moments of spiritual introspection.
In contrast, Gabriela Marie Miltonโs evocative haiku offers a fresh, Western perspectiveโcrafted in direct response to Hikariโs artwork. Her concise yet profound verses highlight the magnificence and subtlety captured on canvas, creating a dialogue between image and word that transcends borders. This unique approach allows readers to view the same artwork through two distinct cultural lenses, underscoring the rich possibilities of artistic perspectivism.

Poem by Gabriela Marie Milton
Your breath forgets to move, lingering like silk in amber, caught between the smell of leaves and memory, where touch burns slow against the skin and time, heavy with wanting.
Basque Lore – Witch (Sorginak)-Short Prose – Poetic Prose by Gabriela Marie Milton
Amaia moved as if the earth itself exhaled her name. The cup before her shimmered with fern, salt, and a shard of the seaโs first boneโthe one that once wrapped around her ankles like a lover unwilling to let go. She broke the root of a tree between her fingers, and the scent of sap rose, thick and sweet as memory.
Her dress slipped from her shoulders, pooling at her feet like dusk surrendering to night. Naked, she began to danceโslowly at first, then with the rhythm of wind through stone, of rivers through veins. The air bent toward her, the mountains listening. Mist gathered around her skin, luminous and alive, her hair trailing down her thighs like spilled ink.
We were children, hidden beneath the bed, breathless. Through the slats, we saw her summon the world back to itselfโone movement, one whisper, one trembling note at a time.

Sacred Autumn – short prose, poetic prose by Gabriela Marie Milton
Those nights of autumnโwhen the chill did not wound but healed, when the air itself seemed to breathe through us, cooling the fever of our restless hearts. Our eyes, heavy with the weight of constellations, closed like petals surrendering to the dusk. The city stirred beneath our footsteps, its silence trembling awake, its shadows turning to watch us pass.
Your lips traced, in the tender blindness of night, the outline of my fingers as though reading a forgotten scripture.
And in those evenings, we learned what few ever doโthat desire, once it transcends the body, becomes sacred. We had crossed that invisible threshold where touch dissolves into essence, and what we shared was no longer flesh, but the luminous echo of it.

The streets remember you, every cobblestone etched with the memory of your footsteps, as if the earth itself had been branded by your presence. It’s been three years, yet the imprint of your steps lingers, a haunting echo that refuses to fade. I recall the way we’d dance in the empty streets, lost in the mystic glow of a sunset that unraveled itself just for us. The world melted away, leaving only the soft whisper of our footsteps and the fading light.
You vanished around the corner, turning left into the fading light, and I followed, my heart racing. But when I turned the street was deserted, the silence palpable. Yet, I could still feel the resonance of your steps, the vibrations of your presence lingering in the air. The distant chime of church bells pierced the evening air, and as the darkness gathered, it felt like the very shadows were alive, swirling around me like a shroud. In that moment, I was consumed by the ache of your absence, the longing to be reunited with the ghost of our past.
