As part of a historic global initiative, Literary Revelations Publishing House has partnered with the Haiku UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Registration Promotion Council, under the leadership of Chairman Kenzo Nomura. We invite poets from every corner of the earth to submit their work for a landmark international print anthology.

Our objective is definitive and monumental: to provide UNESCO with undeniable proof of the profound, borderless reach of haiku as a form of living heritage.

To secure Intangible Cultural Heritage status, we must demonstrate that haiku is not just a static literary format, but a vibrant, universally embraced pillar of contemporary human expression that fosters community identity, environmental connection, and intercultural dialogue.

Therefore, we are seeking representation from as many countries, cultures, and backgrounds as possible. We actively welcome submissions from both established masters and emerging voices to demonstrate the cross-generational vitality of the craft. By adding your voice, you are actively participating in a global safeguarding action for the art of haiku.

📋 Submission Guidelines

Poetry: Submit exactly 4 original haiku written in English.
Style: Any form or style is welcome (traditional, contemporary, unmasked, imagist, or experimental).
Eligibility: Open to all poets globally, from established masters to emerging voices.
✍️ UNESCO Petition Consent: As a condition of participation, selected poets grant permission for their names to be included in a petition submitted by the Council to the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan. This petition formally requests that haiku be nominated for inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
📖 Author Bio: Include a 50–75-word biography written in English and in the third person. Your bio must include:
1. The country, and if possible, the region/city where you currently live and write.
2. Your background (e.g., poet, editor, educator, cultural worker, researcher, PhD, academic, or business professional).
3. A brief mention of your community engagement or credentials (e.g., leading workshops, editing, sharing haiku locally, fields of research, representative publications, or features in journals and anthologies).
🌐 Language: English only (required for international archiving and UNESCO evaluation).
🏛️ Rights & Archiving: Selected works will be published in a print anthology and preserved in permanent international literary archives, continuing Literary Revelations’ commitment to museum-grade archival permanence and cultural preservation.

What began centuries ago in Japan has blossomed into a vibrant global movement loved across more than 200 countries. In just a handful of words, haiku bridges continents, transcends boundaries, and cultivates a shared sanctuary of peace and understanding.

This curated anthology is conceived not merely as a book, but as a living record of community consensus—a collective voice brought together to support the formal nomination of Haiku for the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

“Haiku, the world’s shortest fixed-form poetry, originated in Japan and is now enjoyed in over 200 countries worldwide. This poetic form, which captures a moment in a few words, historically had a basic structure centered on seasonal words and a 5-7-5 syllable pattern. However, it has now spread both domestically and internationally in various forms, including non-seasonal and free-verse poems, likely because it is a poetic form that is easily accessible to people all over the world.

Haiku allows us to express everything from familiar things to the universe, condensing them into extremely short words. Literary Revelations is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions for our upcoming anthology, Haiku for Soulmates. Whether you have a soulmate and wish to celebrate your connection, or you dream of finding one, we invite you to share your poetic voice. If you have a soulmate, please compose five haiku for him or her. If you do not, let your imagination shape five haiku that describe the soulmate you hope to meet.

To participate, please submit your five haiku to literaryrevelations@pm.me and clearly label your email subject as Haiku for Soulmates. Please note that unlabeled submissions may be misplaced and not read. The submission deadline is February 25. Your five haiku will be accepted or rejected as a block.

Gabriela Marie Milton is a #1 Amazon bestselling author, an award-winning poet, and an internationally published author. In 2019, she became Author of the Year at Spillwords Press, and her poem “If I Say I Love You” was nominated for Poem of the Year. In 2022, Vita Brevis Press nominated her for the Pushcart Prize. Gabriela Marie Milton: I founded Literary Revelations for two deeply personal reasons: to honor the memory of my mother and to create a space where the tapestry of human emotion—love, nature, sadness, and joy—can be freely explored. At first glance, this may sound banal or overly sentimental. However, I assure you it is anything but. The reality is that countless poets struggle to have their work published simply because they do not conform to certain academic criteria or established norms in literary circles.

In many cases, talent alone is not enough; it often comes down to connections and who you know within these exclusive networks. This is precisely why I am passionate about giving a voice to extraordinary poetry that captivates the soul but may never grace the pages of traditional poetry journals. I want to showcase living poets whose work deserves recognition now—not posthumously.

As someone who writes about love myself, I understand how beautiful it is to explore the depths of the human soul. Through Literary Revelations, I aim to celebrate those voices that may otherwise go unheard and create an inclusive platform where every heartfelt expression can shine brightly. NY Glam: Can you tell us more about your own books and where they can be found?

Gabriela Marie Milton: My Books Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, and Woman: Splendor and Sorrow can be found on Amazon and other internet retailers. I have documented my feelings on paper, and I am satisfied with my books. When my publisher wrote in one of the forewords that Gabriela Marie Milton is the type of poet Robert Graves had in mind when he referred to being a poet as a condition – rather than a profession, I had tears in my eyes. It was the same when Christina Schwarz, the author of the New York Times Bestseller “Drowning Ruth,” wrote, “With lush language and lavish imagery, Gabriela Marie Milton. evokes a fantastic world ripe with emotion.”

From the reviews I’ve received, it appears that people view my poetry as lush and cosmopolitan and see me as a painter of feelings influenced by my European background and experiences.

NY Glam: Tell us a bit about the other books you’ve published.

Gabriela Marie Milton: I am very active on social media. I read day after day beautiful poetry. I felt the need to publish others. I want the beautiful poetry of my followers to be featured and appreciated in a world that often overlooks raw emotion and genuine expression.
