I want my body burned #poem #poetry #poetry collection

I want my body burned on pyre
a Viking boat will take me far on the cold sea
I want to leave my grave goods for the poor
and take the pain which branded their souls
into a bursting aurora borealis fire
I want to feel the sobs of the North Pole.

I want to burn inside the rhythms of the flamenco
flame in the dancers’ passion in the streets of old Córdoba
I want to entertain rich masters for a piece of bread
inside the silent cries of those who are misunderstood
I want the desperation of the dancers dressed in red

and you, the one who always claimed to know
what powers lie inside the jungle of my soul
you’ll fade into your own acoustic lamentations
the fated day when I, the queen of sufferers, proclaim
that in the sanctity of the mandala
I want to disappear without a name

      1. No idea what’s going on, really. Again, try deleting cookies and opening my site in a different tab, or a whole new browser.
(We’re back to Germany and feeling much safer after the vaccine. I’m resuming my therapy after the quarantine.)

      2. I am going to do that. Did you get vaccinated? That’s great news.

      3. Yes, I wrote about it in the last post. It would take forever here and we didn’t want to wait as it’s quite easy and fast back home, like it should be elsewhere but alas! There’s too much politics where it shouldn’t be.

      4. I did not see your last post yet. I will get there soon. Oh, I agree with you. It’s taking forever here too. I am loosing my patience. Data show the EU is even behind the US. The EU messed it up.
Bo, I am glad you resumed therapy. Take good care of you. Now I am going to try to fix our communication. Love you.

  2. This is outstanding. Melancholy, indeed, but actually very powerful. Like something only a fierce warrior from within can write.
“I want to feel the sobs of the North Pole.”
How beautiful yet brute imagery. Had me in awe. Literally something worth applauding.
Have a fantastic day friend. I hope you don’t disappear without a name.

    1. You are a sweetheart. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. “brute imagery” I really like that.
“I hope you don’t disappear without a name.” Aw.. you made me smile. And the day became brighter. Thank you again my dearest friend.
      Abrazos.

      1. You are absolutely welcome poetess. I am so glad you like the idea of it being brute imagery. I felt it that way.
Happy to know I made you smile. I hope you wear that for the whole bright day. Sunshine.
        Abrazos.

      2. Thank you. Thank you. I am still wearing that smile on my face and in my heart. The jasmines smell heavenly.
Sending love. I hope you are ok Shanyu.

  4. Exquisite imagery, Gabriela! Gorgeous poem! When I was a teenager, I thought it would be great to be buried with a tree planted above me. That romantic vision lacks the imagination and passion of this vivid poem! <3 All the best!

    1. Hi Cheryl, thank you so much for the praise. I am humbled by every word you wrote.
“When I was a teenager, I thought it would be great to be buried with a tree planted above me. ” It’s gorgeous vision. It does not lack imagination and beauty. It is just different.
All the best to you too
      Love
      G.

  5. “I want to disappear without a name”
This line speaks to me! The writing is lyrical and flowing throughout this piece but your final line brings all the imagery home with excellent precision. Loving your chosen image too; perfection.

    1. Hello Java. You made me blush. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I am glad you liked the poem.
“perfection” You took my breath away. Thank you again. I hope your afternoon is going well.
      Hugs
      xoxo

  6. Exquisite! The form is delicious in pace and the rhyme scheme is lyrical. The images and metaphors shine like a star. Your ability to evoke emotions is uniquely gifted. I was pulled between a sense of compassion and the strength of martyrdom. You are the best, G!

    1. My fabulous Brad, here you are. What can I say? What can one say after reading a comment like yours? Thank you from my heart. You filled my afternoon with roses. Sending plenty of love your way.
      xoxo

    1. My dearest Isha, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your praise. I am glad it resonated with you. Love and hugs to you sweetheart 🌹❤️🌸🥰

  7. I love how you broke this apart into 3 stanzas with different messages… may I ask if this was written to somebody in particular in the 3rd stanza, Gabriela?

    Yours,
    David

    1. Hello David,
The poem was written three years ago and it is included in my poetry collection Passions.
“may I ask if this was written to somebody in particular in the 3rd stanza, Gabriela?” No. It used to be the four of us. We were great friends. We all believed in the ideas expressed in my poem. I wrote about our beliefs. The others expressed them in paintings and music. I wrote three novels under another name. For the second one I received an international prize. It did not do anything to me. It did not change me. That’s me. That was us.
Even now, when we are scattered on four continents, and all of us pretty successful in our professions, we still believe in those ideas.

Be happy, David. Love to everyone you love.

  8. Beautiful work Button. Such rich and vivid imagery. I love the Vikings and their history.

“I want to entertain rich masters for a piece of bread
inside the silent cries of those who are misunderstood”

It is a poem I see as longing, expressive and also sadness but in a way that comes from living and learning about pain through things that hurt to witness. Gorgeous! ❤️J

  9. Oh wow, Gabriella what a beautiful, magical poem filled with such opposing forces of cold and heat with a tender heart to hold the suffering of those that need so much and reaching out with a nameless face. Bravo friend… you did it again! 💖🤗👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷

    1. Good evening my dearest Cindy. How beautiful your words are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. On my sky stars are shining.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Be loved. Be love.
      HUGE HUGS
      G.

    1. Thank you so much Devika. Your words mean the world to me. I am beyond humbled. Much love to you too.

  10. This is one of those poems that silence the writer in me, to admire your words in awe is all I could do. This is just…… I’m falling short of words to express 🙏🙏

    1. Aw.. thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am humbled by your words. You took my breath away.
      Thank you again
      Gabriela

    1. Thomas, thank you so much for your beautiful comment and for your support. You touched my soul.

    1. Thank you dear. However, I am trying to contact you and you do not have any contact form on your site. You linked to nine of my poems without proper attribution. It looks like they are your poems and not mine. I did chat with WP about. The first step is to ask you to take down my poems from your site or to attributed them to me correctly. So please do one of the two. Thank you.
      Gabriela
