My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, featured in Manhattan Book Review #poetry collection #review

My Dear Readers,

One of my favorite novelists once wrote:

The profoundest distances are never geographical.
― John Fowles, The Magus

Last night thinking of the friendships I have created on WP I wrote on a piece of paper: The profoundest friendships are never geographical.  Perhaps even the profoundest loves are not geographical either.

I am humbled by the love and the support you have shown me. It is my joy to share with you my work and my journey as a writer. You all enrich my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Below please find the review of my book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, done by Jo Niederhoff, and featured in the Manhattan Book Review. I am happy to share it with you with its good and its bad.

“I would expect a collection of love poems to be lush and indulgent… Gabriela Marie Milton’s collection, Passions, is no exception. Though each poem is short—most are no longer than a page—each is also a glimpse into a moment of beauty. Some poems are passionate, heat felt between every line. Others are more sedate, showing a calmer aspect of love. Still others are yearning, either for a love to come or for a love that has passed. No matter what mood you’re in, you’re sure to find something that will suit your need within these pages…”

Please continue reading here.

You can find my book featured in San Francisco Book Review here.

Thank you.
Love.

  3. I have your beautiful poetry book! <3
I need to work out how to write reviews. Another writer wrote a post recently about the importance of reviews. It's something I have not attempted and it is a neglect on my part. It is one of writing goals to start reviewing the books of other WordPress writers. I want to start making it a regular-ish feature…maybe once a month at first.

    1. Aw… thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a sweetheart. I cannot thank you enough.
“It is one of writing goals to start reviewing the books of other WordPress writers” That is wonderful. It is such a great service to the WP community.
      Sending you love and blessings.
      Gabriela

I could not agree more. “No matter what mood you’re in, you’re sure to find something that will suit your need within these pages…”

  7. My dearest beautiful Button what a lovely review, congratulations! I could not be happier seeing your work being reviewed by so many with such beautiful but different perspectives. That is why I love poetry so much. We read lines and see different things and feel various emotions depending on what is happening in our own lives.

I truly loved this line of the review, “Her words are chosen precisely, showing a distinct shade of blue or a particular floral scent. There is no laziness in her lines.”

This is so true. Your poetry has inspired me to work harder than I ever have before to be a better poet.

There is something in your gorgeous book for everyone who is drawn to love, colors, hope, tragedy, exotic places, passion, smells, and loss. It’s basically an experience painted on a canvas with words, an image and feeling that lingers with us long after it’s read.

I personally will never forget the beloved poem “Wooden bed.” I will be doing a mundane task in the house and all of a sudden my mind will go to this visual. A woman leaving her husband a note as she prepares to be taken away and put in a concentration camp. This poem still makes me cry. You evoke emotion that brings tears dripping from my heart, which I wear on my sleeve.

Your poems are remembered as the reviewer talks of in the review.

A gift each and every gorgeous piece.

Have a blessed day, again, I am thrilled that your book is getting such wonderful recognition. Love, hugs and blessings (J) honeybun ❤️💕🤗🌸

      7. You too my dear friend. I truly pray you are having a pleasurable time off prior to starting your classes again. Love ❤️yours, honeybun – today I am sending via balloons 🎈 a large flower basket made with gardenias and thin twigs from clapping oaks. Inside will be ten jars, each will hold tiny adventures that once taken out of the jars, grow into adult size adventures. The largest one will hold a delicate angel named Ruth, she will need to be released immediately. She will be like your twin, you and her will fly all over the world visiting all the wonderful places you love that are mentioned in your gorgeous book “Passions”. Have fun with your gift, when in Spain please eat some marvelous pastries in Madrid where they hang all the pig legs. ❤️💕💖
