the biblical sense of to know #poem #poems

the biblical sense of to know
born in a summer that never existed
nailed to the cross of your poems
I’m losing my mind inside the blue night
I reach you in dreams you do not understand
It hurts when I’m there
It hurts when I’m not
I ask for the help gravediggers can grant
I wrote I love you on a note that I locked
It wasn’t a snake, it was an iguana
the night the tango nuevo played its guitar
on fifteen decades you counted your prayers
my fingers were naked
my fingers were gloved

  1. Luscious words that to me describe a love that ended in tragedy or death. The woman tries to forget but still longs for him. Hands naked symbolic of when they were together and gloved when she said goodbye at the grave. That is why I love poetry, it can mean something different to every one. Lovely Gabriela. Love 💕 Joni

    1. Jonni, you left me speechless. I am not going to say anything more than you did. “That is why I love poetry, it can mean something different to every one.”

  2. To fully appreciate this last creature of yours I have to use the translator for a few words ..

    In OT
Hi Gabriela, I leave you, you will excuse me, here the translation of my verses that you have seen, perhaps, in assembly
Secret silences open on the heart
                                                    they are still peeling,
                                                    aromas are given.

                                                    Fragrant silence,
                                                    thin
                                                    underlying
                                                    spaces open
                                                    and concealing blushes
                                                    enchant the heart.

                                                    You can’t hold them
if they open on the fly
                                                    if on recall
                                                    underlying
                                                    they respond to the wind.

                                                    You can’t own them
    if they fill valleys,
    if they browse days,
    and concealing blushes
    they baffle the heart
                                                     in the noons of fire.

  3. Oh Gabriela, your words are poetically moving, and I adored these lines…..
    ” I wrote I love you on a note that I locked
It wasn’t a snake, it was an iguana”

  4. “I reach you in dreams you do not understand
It hurts when I’m there
It hurts when I’m not”

My dear G. This poem to me is like a dream, layered and full of symbolism – the details open to interpretation, but the emotions behind it, so powerfully speak of love and tragedy to me.
Your work is magnificent, like the ocean I send you love and hugs on 🌊❤️🌸 xoxox

    1. My dearest Rachael,
I do not know how I missed your comment.
Thank you so much for your kind words. “full of symbolism” that really makes me happy. Did I do it? Can I aspire to be some kind of cross between symbolism and surrealism in poetry? I can have all sorts of aspirations but at the end of the day I am going to remain just me.
I’ll cook for you if you do what you promised me 🙂

Sending you hugs, flowers, chocolates. They are across the ocean now. Please make sure you catch them.
      xoxoxo

      1. Oh G, I caught them…

You should aspire to be whatever you desire – reach for the stars my friend, you of all people will touch them. Your poetry is… sublime. It’s surreal, it’s full of symbolism, it’s… incredible.

I need you to cook for me, you are persuasive.

Happy Monday gorgeous, sending you happiness on a sparkling sea xoxoxo

      2. Thank you for the high praise Rachel. ” It’s surreal, it’s full of symbolism,” I trust you. And I promise I’ll try to do better.

“I need you to cook for me, you are persuasive.” I will. Not this summer, perhaps next summer I can make it happen. I am thinking about traveling there.

Have a fabulous week, and thank you again for being the soul that you are.

  5. You are a fantastic poet, a great writer whose words are so powerful, yet so subtle, tender and terrifying…I am in awe at the intensity of your verses and their beauty. Lovely, lovely work Gabriela,
    Un doble abrazo,
    Francisc

    1. Aw.. thank you so much, Francisco. You are showering me with compliments today. I am happy and very grateful to you. Your appreciation stimulates me. It makes me want to write better. And this is one very important point in the creation process. At least for me.
      Thank you!
      abrazos de América
