forbidden fruits #poem #poetry

forbidden fruits
gestate on the trees’ branches
shades of green invade the veins of earth
between your dreams and mine a creaking door
temptation
adulterated wine
a naked breast

Breton’s mad love had no forbidden fruit
my love has you
the anarchy of flesh crawls in the alphabet
the repertoire of mornings’ unmade beds
a naked ocean
my bruised hands
strawberry red

My poetry book Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings: available for pre-order on April 14th; publication date April 20th.

    1. Aw… thank you so much Brad. What a beautiful comment. Three T’s 🙂 I’ll cherish them.
Thank you again my dear friend and good morning.
      May your day be fabulous.
      G.

    1. Good Morning Andrada. Thank you for your fabulous comment. I am thrilled you liked the poem and humbled by your words.
      Sending you plenty of love

    1. You are so good to me Katy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
      Stay safe sweetheart.
      G

      1. Thank you again Katy. It’s crazy and it’s getting to me.
I hope you are well sweetheart. Keep us happy Katy.

      2. I am so sorry, Gabriela. I don’t know where You are but it’s difficult to hear about some of the things going on…much less imagine being in places that are completely overrun. My heart goes out to You. If You need distraction or someone to talk to, let me know. We are doing alright here. Keep writing and I’ll keep drawing!!! You are in my heart. It will be so very nice to see this in the rear view mirror…won’t it? 🤗❤️🙏🏼🌀😊

      3. Oh, sweetheart, I am in the US. And yes it’s very hard to hear about everything at this point.
” My heart goes out to You.” Thank you for this Katy. It means the world to me.
“If You need distraction or someone to talk to, let me know.” I will certainly let you know. If anybody can cheer up the entire world that’s YOU.
“We are doing alright here. Keep writing and I’ll keep drawing!!” That makes me happy. Stay safe and create beautiful things.
You are in my heart too and indeed it will be so nice to see this in the rear view mirror
        Sending you love and hugs

      4. I’m in the US as well. I am truly sorry if You’re in New York, New Jersey, CA or one of the other states that is being hit beyond belief. We’re in Georgia…the Southernmost part right above Florida but it is still a slow wave coming here. This whole experience feels like being in the ocean…a little bit farther out in the waves than is a great idea….and seeing a HUGE wave approaching. Nowhere to run and the only way out: through. I’m imagining where You are Y’all are already swept up in those being tossed about moments that feel like infinite eternities. It’s nice to see help/supplies coming in. I truly can’t shake the shock of how ill prepared we all were…and can’t imagine being in the middle of it. Thank You for Your wonderfully sweet, incredibly attentive reply! You gifted a huge smile! Sending Love and HUGE hugs right back to You….and keeping You in my heart. ❤️❤️❤️

      5. “This whole experience feels like being in the ocean…a little bit farther out in the waves than is a great idea….and seeing a HUGE wave approaching. ” I know Katy. It does not look good at all.
“I truly can’t shake the shock of how ill prepared we all were…” This is really shocking. We are receiving medical supplies from China and Russia. Last time I heard we were the greatest country in the world. What happened to that? You can tell I am really unhappy. It is only as much as I can do to help (I can’t come up with medication or a vaccine) and it really hurts.
“Thank You for Your wonderfully sweet, incredibly attentive reply! ” See this is how you cheer me up. You are incredible. Your enthusiasm is a blessing. It brightened my evening. THANK YOU!
May your evening be wonderful and make sure you stay safe.
        Much love
        Gabriela

    1. Hello Rob. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. I am so glad you liked the poem. I hope you are staying safe.

  1. I see so much in this poem. I see all temptations good and evil. Are you referring to the man who killed 26 people in New Zealand – Brenton, beautiful Button? I see poems about a pure love one you have or have had and all the ways the flesh can make us do unimaginable things to fulfill desires or thoughts people have whether they are good or evil in the eyes of others. This is a beautifully written an extremely thought provoking piece. I think this is what makes for amazing poetry. Also it can have many meanings to different people based on many things. Bravo! Have a blessed day Button. PS. I can tell I will likely spend months studying your poetry book but that will be a true labor of love. 😘💕❤️🌸🌺

    1. Good morning my dearest Joni.
I hope it’s a wonderful morning in NC and you and your daughter are enjoying each other company. “Are you referring to the man who killed 26 people in New Zealand – Brenton, beautiful Button?” No, sweetheart, I am not. The reference here is to the work of the French writer André Breton also known as the chief apologist of Surrealism and his work Mad Love.
“This is a beautifully written an extremely thought provoking piece. I think this is what makes for amazing poetry.” Oh, thank you so much honeybun. This fills my heart with joy. You are so kind.
“Also it can have many meanings to different people based on many things.” I fully agree with you and thank you again for your thoughtful words.
Your comments are always a pleasure to read, Joni. They bring so much happiness and love to me.
Wishing you a splendid day sweetheart

  2. “between your dreams and mine a creaking door”
You should watch Falling Water (TV show on this theme). 🙂
Have a heartbeat of love with each breath of happiness you take.
    Robert.

    1. Thank you for the suggestion and for your wonderful words.
Have a great rest of the day Robert
      Gabriela 🙂

  3. Good morning G,

    Between your dreams and mine…..
Beautiful imagery. Love, temptation, desire all wrapped up so wonderfully.
You always find ways to inspire.

Praying you and yours are well.

    1. Good morning Drew
Thank you so much for the praise. I am so glad you liked the poem and glad you found inside it “temptation, desire all wrapped up so wonderfully” Are all those things there?
      Thank you again.
I am a bit disturbed by the news I read on your blog. You need medication and good care. Once you get them everything will be fine. I know you are strong and you can do it. As you said: write beautiful poetry, finish your novel, take it easy… try to think that probably it is for the best. Besides we did not converse enough before your surgery. Now we have plenty of time.
Also I get to read more beautiful poetry written by you.
      Stay blessed and happy.
      G.

      1. Smiling. Things happen for a reason. Perhaps, I needed to get stronger for the surgery. My return flight was to Fort Lauderdale, then I was going to rent a car and drive to Orlando. Maybe, I wasn’t mean to do that?

Right now, I will accept it as a sign that I am supposed to keep resting and writing. Happy doing that.

        xo

      2. I don’t know what happened to my comment. It vanished while I was writing. Be happy now. Make the sun and the day happy. Make the ocean happy. Relax, read, enjoy. It was not to be now.
It going to be ok later. Now you should create.
Drew, no te preocupes por mí. Voy a estar bien. Más importante es que te cuides mucho
        Abrazos
        Gabriela

  4. Good morning/ Good evening! (depending on wherever in the world you are)
Just stopping by to say how brilliant this was. I had been a bit in and out of wordpress in the past few months, but your heart-provoking, aesthetic imagery never fails to amaze and inspire me.

    1. Good morning/Good evening… I am definitely happy you are back and I hope everything is ok with you.
My most sincere thanks for the praise. I am humbled and delighted by your words. They took me to heaven. I do not know what else to say. Thank you again and please stay safe.
      Best Wishes
      Gabriela

    1. Good afternoon, David. Thank you so much for your wonderful words. You know how much they mean to you. I am glad you like that line.
Please make sure you stay healthy and safe. I want to celebrate the publication of your book with you, your friends and your family 🙂
Don’t forget to keep me updated.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
      G.

      1. I am so humbled by your comment. Thank you again. I don’t know what else to say.
        💕

    1. My dearest Rene, thank you so much for your beautiful words. You brought more sunshine in my day. I am so glad you liked it.
Have a wonderful afternoon sweetheart and stay safe.

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the poem Franscisco. Let’s say I am fine. Wishing you the best from the bottom of my heart.
      Gracias por el fuerte abrazo.
      Dos abrazos y un beso
      Gabriela

      1. Loved the poem, read it two more times later. It’s a great piece, it could be a great song too! I’m glad you are fine. We are on our 18th day of quarantine today and 12 more to go. It’s not bad at all. If this is the only sacrifice we must make to stay healthy and to keep others healthy as well, then it is not much to ask. Stay away from the news of any sort as all they do is try to raise your levels of anxiety and fear and most are “bulos” (fake news) or statistics taken randomly, not scientifically or many so called experts giving only their opinions. I’ve not listened to the “telediario” since 01 MARCH and I won’t until this is over. Take good care,
        Abrazos de Valencia,
        F.

      2. Thank you so much Francisco. “It’s a great piece, it could be a great song too!” Those words mean a lot to me. If it’s a song I do not hear it. But you are better than I am. So play it to me matador 🙂

Francisco I am glad you are in good spirits. It may be more than 12 days but I am sure you can go through and come out unscarred.
I don’t watch TV too much anyway. I don’t have time. But there is something that gets me. We have brains. We have resources. And we still don’t have some kind of rudimentary treatment? Something that can help at least. I’m not talking about a vaccine or a full cure. Truth is we are powerless now. That get’s me. In this particular case I hate powerlessness. And I hate to know people die. Even if I don’t watch TV I know it. And I hate it.

Work, enjoy your glass of red, enjoy singing.
I am really glad you are in good spirits.
        Wishing you the very best
        G.
I went out in the backyard. I took a picture of the spring. I’ll send it to you 🙂

      3. Would love to see that picture of the spring! Yes, I know and understand what you have said. I hate it too. I was trained to fight, but we had weapons and we had the means to know where the enemy was and how to prevent his movement. It is not the same with a microscopic organism. We think we know where it is but it could be in other places…unsuspected…as well. I hate that so many people have lost their lives from this horrible disease, Gabriela, but you’ve said it, at this moment we are helpless. But we should not be hopeless. We can only do what we are doing, staying home, going to the supermarket only once every 6/7 days and with much care not to get near others, wearing masks…I do not wear one…and gloves and then disinfecting everything we bought before putting it away and washing our street clothes, having home clothes, cleaning your spectacles, your keys, not wearing street shoes in the house et cetera et cetera ad nauseam…But if it means staying safe, then it is not too much of a sacrifice. This will end and life will return, slowly, to normal. This certainly will not be a normal year, especially for outdoor events and gatherings. I don’t listen to the news or read them but things filter my way even if it is drop by drop…but I must remain as positive as possible. You too, stay positive, stay occupied and stay home. I know that in the US it will be very difficult to quarantine people, but I think they will have to do it…but take it from me, it is not that bad. One thing…curious one…is that since the day they put into place the Royal Decree placing the Kingdom in a State of Alarm and placed us in government mandated quarantine, there has hardly been two sunny days, and even though today was partly sunny, it is the 18th day…
        Stay well my dear friend,
Un beso y un abrazo de Valencia,
        F.

      4. ” We can only do what we are doing, staying home, going to the supermarket only once every 6/7 days and with much care not to get near others, wearing masks…I do not wear one…and gloves and then disinfecting everything we bought before putting it away and washing our street clothes, having home clothes, cleaning your spectacles, your keys, not wearing street shoes in the house et cetera et cetera ad nauseam….. Oh, no, only two sunny days?
Francisco, thank you so much for the wishes, for the kiss and the hug, but you forgot to send me a flower from Valencia. Will you remember next time? 🙂

        Stay well my dear friend
        Gabriela

    1. Thank you so much, Mihail. I am thrilled you liked that line. I am also very grateful to you for reading my work.
      O zi placuta 🙂
I am sure I got this one right 🙂
      Take care
      Gabriela

  5. Oh G. I think that the feeling I get so often when I read your poems is like falling in love. I’m pulled under, breathless, I feel under a spell, and I keep falling deeper and deeper. It’s wonderful.

“the anarchy of flesh crawls in the alphabet
the repertoire of mornings’ unmade beds”

I CANNOT wait to get your book. I NEED it. Sorry for yelling in font but I’m hopelessly in love with your poetry, it’s hard not to.

G, how are you my lovely friend?? I need an update xoxoxo

    1. Rachel sweetheart, I am so glad you are here. Your fabulous words are honey. They are sweet and beautifully scented. Thank you soooo much.
“I CANNOT wait to get your book” Rachel I am so grateful to you for this. It means the world to me.
“Sorry for yelling in font” I love it. You put it perfectly. And you brought a smile in my evening “yelling in font” 🙂 You are great. I am laughing now.
Sweetheart I am overwhelmed with work and I am not feeling well again. We’ll see.
I hope you are well and you are taking good care of yourself.
      What can I send you?
      xoxoxo

      1. “overwhelmed with work and I am not feeling well again” – oh G, this does not sound good. I’m glad I made you laugh, perhaps I can yell in font some more, so that I can make you laugh some more. Is your book being published creating a lot of work for you, or is it other things?

What can you send me? Tonight dear G, I just need something to make me sleep.

What can I send you? Xoxox

      2. You made me laugh sweetheart and it felt good. No, it has nothing to do with my poetry book. That is in the hands of the publisher. It’s ready. I just have to look over again and give it the green light. It has to do with all these adjustments that I had to make – all meetings and classless moved online – and other things. Anyway we all are going through a lot of changes. I prey that everyone stays safe.
I am so sorry you couldn’t sleep sweetheart. I should have sent you some relaxing music but I was asleep. That was a novelty. I hope you get a great rest tonight.
Take care of you my sweet Rachael.
        Lots of love

      3. Thank you sweetheart. I look forward to your next post too.
        xoxoxo
