I am thrilled to have my piece Who Am I? published by Shabd Aaweg – A Quarterly Review of Literary Fiction, Politics, and Philosophy, Issue VIII
Here are some teasers:
“…floats above the water as innocent as the breast of a young girl… Soon the sun will try to catch her naked and burn her skin … Pigeons will carry her across…
… I can see no relationship between my destiny and that which I do. I am …
At noon, the sun kneads the waters with rapture … the movement of the water on my skin. Its cyclical quality sends me in a state of ecstasy. No, it is not the ecstasy of Saint Teresa of Ávila. It is something similar to a soporific trance. I am dead and I am alive at the same time. I come from the sea. I return to the sea.
In the afternoon, my rational self awakes… I get preoccupied with verbs. I set one triangle in the normal position and I invert the other one. I bind them together….. You are the goddess of vines, the mother earth, the chalice, the blood, the fertility of the womb. I mull over these desperate….
..I feed my iguana with cookies soaked in champagne… One kiss and you borrow my tears. One touch and I borrow your pain. A passage rite. I keep a coffin adorned with lilies in my bedroom. I sleep besides death like Sarah Bernhardt. Did you hear that noise? A rosary…”
Please read the entire piece here.
Thank you.
This piece will be included in my upcoming poetry collection Woman: Splendor and Sorrow: Love Poems and Poetic Prose.
My book Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings featured in San Francisco Book Review and Manhattan Book Review.

Oh my…..!!! I am absolutely speechless, breathless after reading the entire piece, Gabriela. I am at a loss of words. WOW!!
“Soon the sun will catch her naked and burn her skin. She will escape. Pigeons will carry her across the sea.” How stunningly descriptive!
The second and third paragraphs were alive with gorgeous metaphors and vivid imagery. I could feel the sea on my skin. I could smell the cedar and spices. I could see the shadow of the seagull.
“The wind slips between the petals of a rose and opens it.” Reading your poetry is seeing life beautifully, in slow motion. Appreciating each fraction of a second.
The end was marvellous. “There is no me.” Spectacular! Bravo!
Love and hugs😍💕🤗🤗

‘there is no me’
Dear friend,
You continue to amaze me with the most wonderful pieces, and you my friend are a magician. I remember you saying that to me. It was yours all along.
Hello Shanyu, what a joy to have you here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the praise and the kind words. You are a darling? A magician? If so what can I do for you besides sending plenty of love and hugs ? 😊🤗🥰❤️
Really really beautiful. You take us on this ride of immensely moving metaphors and imagery. Deeply vivid. Extremely flamboyant.
You amaze me G, you really do.
You ask who you are? You are your words, your poetry, your metaphors, and from that, I can say that you are phenomenal.
Have a fantastic day in the sea. Keep that smile.
(P.S. I hit send a little early on the earlier comment)
Aw… I am so humbled by your words. Will you come with me in the sea? 😊
Seriously I have no words to thank you for your words. They took my breath away 🌹❤️🥰❤️🥰

Wow, Gabriela, that’s some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever read. I’m speechless. Wonderful. Your imagery is sublime, and the underlying emotion is deep and breathlessly evocative.

Gab, here’s what support said:
Can you please request the user to check your site from a different browser and see if he faces the same issue or not?
If he faces the same issue with other browsers then please confirm the site’s URL on which that user is having issues. Also, please share the user’s email/username so we can check this further.
(I think you better contact them yourself, if changing a browser/opening my site in a different window doesn’t help, instead of us sharing each other’s email addresses here. That way it’s just you and them. It’s safer.)
Bo, I did that many times. Nothings happens. There is something wrong with my site. It started when I could not follow myself anymore. My posts do not appear in my reader. I cannot like your posts and others anymore. Do you know how I liked your last posts? I went to Eric’s site. Every time you like one of Eric’s posts I can see you among those who liked it, click on your site name and then I can perfectly like and comment on your site; via Eric’s site or any other site that you like and I can see you among those who liked it.
Anyway, WP claimed three times that they fixed my site. I had plenty of chat hours with them. Every time they say they need to assign a specialist. A week after the specialist sends me an email saying the site was fixed. Not true.
I will start chatting with them as soon as I can. I will do everything I can to fixed it.
The thing with the browser is a bunch of hue.
Bo, love you. You take care of yourself. I’ll get this fixed somehow.
They say, it’s because mine’s a private site, the reason you ‘have to’ use Chrome or whatever. It makes no sense to me either. Once it happene to me. I couldn’t see a friend who also has a private blog. I think she in the end figured it all out by herself. So much for Support.
I use Chrome Bo, that’s not it. I will figure it out.
xoxo
That’s funny. So it gotta be sth else.
It is something else. I am going to make a screen video: me trying to like your posts and then send it to WP. They will assign it to a specialist of course. And nothing will happened because I do not think they know how to fix it. I got to figure it out by myself. And I will.
Jerks! Wish I could help. I’ll ask around. Someone might know it.
Enjoyed the poem! Congrats!! 👏💯🎉
Thank you so much Tricia. That’s very sweet of you to say.
xoxo
This piece speaks to my heart beautiful Button. It feels like a person’s lifetime laid out in this gorgeous piece. A strong and beautiful connection with the sea that brings timely peace to a frustrating life at times.
“One touch and I borrow your pain. A passage rite – I keep a coffin adorned with lilies in my bedroom.”
A sense of drudgery in the mundane we all feel and question in our lives at times I also feel in this piece.
To me this poem is like a reflection in the water. It holds a piece of every sensitive, every poetic soul and the yearning for understanding life we crave.
This is now one of my favorite pieces of your work. You are a master with phrases, metaphors and emotions on paper. Bravo on the publication and writing such a gorgeous piece. 🤗❤️💕😘 love Honeybun (J)
My dearest honeybun, thank you so much for your wonderful words and for the praise. It means a lot to me. I am glad you enjoyed the piece. It makes me happy.
Sending you tons of love and blessings. Have a fabulous evening.

Thank you so much my dearest Nadine.
Most beautiful wordings about the women like a movie which we are seeing.Weldon.dear G!!and congratulations.
Thank you dear.
You are most welcome,dear G!!🌷
This is simply fantastic work. Congratulations!
Aw… thank you so much 🌹❤️🥰
No need to thank me, it really is. One of my favourite parts was where the narrator sees no connection between what she is doing at the moment and her future, and says she is scared. Deep emotion so simply expressed.
You know, I think that’s my favorite part too 🙂
Take good care of you B.
I will. You do the same ❤️
♥️♥️
🙏🙏🥰🥰
So beautiful!!
Thank you so much!
Your welcome!!
🙂
Stunning so full of sensational imagery
Thank you so much. It means a lot to me.
