Bewitched #poem #poetry collection

Included in my poetry collection Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings.

perhaps I was bewitched by the North Star
or by a ballad as dateless as my blood
geography of feelings populates unwanted interludes
my eyes, the nests of dewy grass and leaves
emerald eyelashes flaunt
black taffeta chirps between my fingers like piano keys
inside my soul your kisses soar
soft lilac tones like prayers of the youngest nun
perhaps because I read your poetry last night
and cut my soul between a stanza and a strife
perhaps a child played with a kite
a kingdom for a sup
maybe it was the wind
that woke me up

  1. The north star will get you every time. Beautiful poem, Gabriela. The has a way of awakening.

  2. There’s ‘meh.’ And then there’s ‘ahh!’. This was ahh worthy. Divine.
I absolutely adore the last few lines. A little rhythm and trance in those.
“or by a ballad as dateless as my blood”
As another comment points out, this is a wonderful wonderful line. It establishes this sense of knowing, which makes the poem so much closer to the reader’s heart. Truly beautiful.
perhaps I was bewitched by your words or by a ballad as dateless as your poetry…

    1. Oh, my dearest Shanyu. What a beautiful comment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me you are here. I am glad you liked the piece.
“perhaps I was bewitched by your words or by a ballad as dateless as your poetry…” that’s really sweet. Sending you plenty of love and hugs.

      1. It’s been a pleasure.

I overburdened my leg on the weekend so it was very painful, day in day out. Started swelling again. After some massage and swimming pool, I’m better now. How far are you? Have u started some therapy?

      2. I am glad it’s better now. Take care of yourself, Bo.
I am doing fine but it is still swelling. I did not start any therapy. I need it but I am scared to go anywhere. It’s getting bad here. My doctor got COVID.
I still do ice and salt baths every day.
Sending hugs to everyone. A kiss to little B.
        xoxoxo

      3. Hi Bo,
The medical staff is getting vaccine indeed. Things should get better.
I have 2 months today so I have to think about therapy.
Please keep me updated. I want to know how you feel.
        xoxo

      4. Thank you so much Bo. You are right. I have to start now. I’ll see if I can talk to another doctor today 🤗❤️

  6. A book full of tenderness and stanzas that engulfs the mind with so many magnificent images. A treasure box your book of poems, a ride in a carriage on a perfect night with love sitting beside you.

    “emerald eyelashes flaunt
black taffeta chirps between my fingers like piano keys
inside my soul your kisses soar
soft lilac tones like prayers of the youngest nun”

Words that can not be put together easily to create such a beautiful image and yet you take the word “chirps” and create an orchestra with a single instrument.

So beautiful your book and your words Button. I hope you are having an amazing week and I am sending my love in purple silk bags made by my fairies 🧚‍♀️ and in each bag a kiss of gratitude for your precious words.

    ❤️ love you
