My Poem Moonlight Love Included in Words Of Power: A Poetry Anthology #poem #poetry #antology

Thank you to Kevin Watt for including my poem Moonlight Love in his new anthology Words of Power.

Here is my poem:

Bones, blood, flesh trapped in a brilliant moonlight.
The sand of the shore carried faraway by translucent tongues of water.
Around me the mint grows taller than the trees; lassitude turning from gold to red.
Eyes become the locus where the desert and the sea meet.
Imprinted on my body the number twelve; the twelve horses of the sun-chariot.
He, the seller of time, looks at me.
His voice penetrates the membranes of my cells.
One hour of impossible love for two dimes.
I, who can foresee the future, buy.
The hour wraps around my hips like a passion vine around a tree.
For a second you, the lover of the visible world, hesitate.
Streets inundated by the sweet smell of citrus.
Arms hugging a void.
You cannot eat that citrus and you cannot touch me.
Moonlight love, remind me, why did I buy you?

Words of Power is available on Amazon here.

My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, can be ordered here.

Thank you.

      1. Da i chi. Llongyfarchiadau! I had to include Congratulations because it is an amazing word in Welsh. It has one more letter and one more syllable than English.

      2. Thank you so much Timothy!
Llongyfarchiadau! What an interesting word. “It has one more letter and one more syllable than English.” You are serious about learning Welsh. Good for you.

P.S. I wanted to ask what’s your name many times but I did not want to intrude. Perhaps you can tell me how should I call you. If not there is no problem. Just know you have a place in my heart.

      5. Oh, thank you for checking. I got it the first time. I generally moderate my comments.
        xoxoxoxo..

  3. Well the accolades never stop coming! Congratulations friend.

This is a vibrant poem I must say.
“Streets inundated by the sweet smell of citrus.” How very beautiful.
And yes, the rich symbols from the poetry. So well written my friend. Truly a wonderful start to the day.
I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. All the best.
    Hugs.

    1. Shanyu, my dearest friend, thank you so much. I am so grateful to you for your kind words and support. You are wonderful!
I woke up and I ate two bars of milk chocolate and 2 oranges. I am not kidding. I cannot get over the taste of chocolate and oranges. What’s next for dessert? 🙂

      1. It is my absolute pleasure friend. I cannot be happier for you.
No kidding? You seem to be getting quite fond of chocolate and orange. Try oranges with 70% chocolate (dark) the best time. So much better.
What’s next for dessert you ask. I really want to do some key lime pies or something citrus with lemons. I’ll let you know.
        How’s Maya and the cold?

      2. Awww… key lime pie! I used to live in Florida, drive down to the Florida Keys where the key lime pie apparently originated and indulge myself. Yeah.. it’s no Florida here but it’s not quite cold either. Maya? Thank you for asking. I am still going full steam; plenty of work, and she got tired of me ignoring her. She comes when I work and bites my ankles. She wants attention 🙂
I hope you are well my friend. Whishing you a beautiful weekend.
70% dark chocolate.. I know but I like milk chocolate 🙂

      3. Florida is a beautiful place. Sun kissed and vibe-y I should say.
Pets are such attention seekers! Well she has to wait for Thanksgiving.
You like milk chocolate? That’s alright. I didn’t like dark chocolate until recently. Either way, chocolate is delicious. Have you tried ruby?

      4. Milk chocolate? Yes, I do. My mom used to make milk chocolate for me every morning when I was a kid. Ruby chocolate? Yes, I did. It’s Belgian–Swiss and it’s superb 🙂

    1. Cheryl, thank you so much for the congrats and for your beautiful words. They mean a lot to me.
Sending you love and whishing you a beautiful weekend.
      xoxoxo

    1. Bo, you are so good to me. Thank you so much. I am trying to get to your site and I have some problems. I am going try again now.
      How is little B doing?

      1. I am trying the clear all temporary files from my computer. If it does not work I will talk to WP.

      2. B’s ok. We picked him up earlier today coz he was complaining of a stomachache. Back home, he threw up, had some tea, soup, had a nap and now he’s as good as new. Kids recover quickly, unlike us.

      3. I am so glad he is well. Sending him another hug. To you too. Please stay safe.
I actually though I replied to this comment but I cannot see my reply.
        Anyway, yesterday I felt and sprained an ankle…. I can’t believe I did this…

      4. I was cleaning the kitchen floor.. it was wet.. the next thing I knew I was down on the floor in excruciating pain and unable to get up. At this point I can manage the pain but I cannot put any pressure on my ankle which is not a good sign.
Thank you for asking sweetie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

      5. Jesus. Fingers crossed it’s only a sprain, which isn’t good either, but hopefully nothing’s broken. Now you need to rest, you know that, put your foot up and apply some ice. Damn, you need crutches now. When can you see a doctor?

      6. Hi Bo, it’s a sprain but I ruptured my ligaments. That’s that. I will not be skiing in Aspen, Colorado anymore 🙂
Yes, I have crutches and an ankle brace. Now I have to figure out how I am going to do most of my work from bed. I don’t like to take my laptop in bed. I cannot write and I cannot do research. Yet, I have to find a way to do it.
I hope you guys are ok. Sending you my love.
        xoxoxo

      7. Oh fuck! Ligament or ligaments? I was told some ankle ligaments have the ability to rebuild themselves, others don’t. Do you know which one/s?
Make sure you have an MTI done as well to know the whole story.
I’m so sorry to hear this, Gab. I was hoping it’s a sprain.

As for skiing, never say never. Sis tore a knee ligament that doesn’t rebuild itself, but she did recover and is skiing again, so I’m sure you’ll be fine. It just takes time. And you get used to using all your gadgets in bed. You have to.

Thinking about you. Take it slow, ok.

      8. ATFL is ruptured. PTFL is torn. I have to go back for another MRI in one week. I probably can recover with no surgery but it’s going to take a while: 6 month-1 year.
Bo, I am so glad to hear that your sister recovered. I hope to do that too.
Thank you so much for your kindness. It means a lot.
        Sending hugs to everyone.

      9. Bad bad bad. Now it again depends on whether they are renewable. I do hope so. In which case it might take a shorter period of time to recover. It’s taking so long with me because of the bone bruise, not the torn ligaments. A doctor was surprised when it didn’t heal after 2 months, so we are all different.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t take so long with you. Sending you lots of love.

      10. Thank you so much Bo. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you too.
        xoxoxo

    2. Bo, I can see your site and read. Congratulation on the publications. I cannot like or comment. I got to talk to WP again. It’s insane.
Anyway congratulations once again and hope you guys stay safe.
      xoxoxo

      1. Bo, when you get a chance, could you please unfollow me and follow me back? Thank you.

  4. Another beautiful poem that illicits the senses with well chosen words. You keep inspiring and the awknowledgement of your work is greatly recognized and rewarded. Congratulations Gabriella! ❤️ Cindy

    1. My dearest Cindy, thank you so much for your beautiful words and for the congrats. You have a heart of gold!
      Enjoy your weekend.
      xoxoxo

    1. Thank you Susi. You are a gem. I felt and sprained one of my ankles. Other than that I am ok. I hope you are doing better.
Take good care of you and enjoy the weekend.
      xoxo

      1. You are welcome! Oh, no!! Must you wear a brace or was it a mild sprain? Yes, I’m feeling much better emotionally after this election. 🙂 However, I recently got diagnosed with a double ear infection! :O But it is healing and I’m grateful for that. Doing my best to get rest, liquids and support from the hubs. I wish you a wonderful weekend too! <3

      2. Susi, sorry for my late reply. I ruptured my ligaments so I do have to wear a brace.
Anyhow, I am glad you are emotionally better. So am I.
“I recently got diagnosed with a double ear infection! :O But it is healing and I’m grateful for that.” I am happy that it’s healing.
“Doing my best to get rest, liquids and support from the hubs. ” Isn’t that the way to go? I am trying to do the same, although I have so much work to do. I was planning to slow down at the end of the week – I am totally burned out – but the providence decided that the time to slow down is now.
Susi, thank you so much for your kindness and your support. You are a gem. Wishing you a fabulous week 🙂

      3. No worries about the reply! I do hope that your ligaments heal quickly. And yes, the antibiotics have helped. I’m getting there. It seems that when we must slow down, we absolutely have to listen. So please do get your strength back, Gabriela! Thank you for your wishes for me! 🙂

      4. No worries on the reply, your health is more important! I do hope your recovery is swift, Gabriela. Thank you so much for your kindness as well!! 🙂

  5. Magnificent….as always….I must call you a magician….the way you capture the pictures….the fine imagery….by giving this form of your beautiful, heartfelt, intense, dissolving words….is beyond my imagination….congratulations dearest Gabriela 🌹 ❤️🍫✨

    1. My dearest Navin, that’s a tone of sweet praise. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you have a fabulous Sunday. Sending you the murmurs of a gorgeous autumn evening 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

  6. Certain themes recur in your poetry (sorry, I still have this urge to pick it apart in an attempt to understand it (or you (maybe))): mythology, sensual intensity, passion and (a word for when people come together). Is the canvas plus a box of paints the same thing as a masterpiece?
    Any-which-way, I hope you’re having a lovely day, Gabriela.

    1. My Dear Robert,
Thank you so much for reading and commenting. “Certain themes recur in your poetry”
That’s very true and it’s always very common. Yesterday I was reading an article that mentioned the themes that occur in George Seferis’ poetry. “mythology, sensual intensity, passion” Interesting because when I think of my work I do not think “themes” – yes they are there- I think symbols.
“in an attempt to understand it (or you (maybe)))” Oh, when you do it please let me know 🙂 It will help me understand myself.

“Is the canvas plus a box of paints the same thing as a masterpiece?”
Tell me Robert who bought the canvas and the box of paint and I will answer your question 🙂

From my heart to yours all the best. May you have a fabulous week ahead and thank you again for your comment.

      1. Ah, you have such a big heart – I’m smiling as I read your reply. My attempt to understand the mysterious depths of you are ongoing but are bearing little fruit other than to find that below your intelligence and sensuality is another layer of brightness and sensitivity and below that is more goodness and other sweet stuff. Very frustrating. 😂 Perhaps I’m looking for intellect and finding being. If so, maybe I should stop looking.
And yes – quite correct – the masterpiece comes from the heart of the master/mistress, not from the pot of paint. 😉 I only meant to ask (in my clumsy way) if the writing is, in some way, synonymous with the writer.

        Keep kind. Be safe.
        Robert.

      2. Robert, what a beautiful reply. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am humbled by your words. You made my day. May the rest of your week be fabulous and please stay safe too.
“I only meant to ask (in my clumsy way) if the writing is, in some way, synonymous with the writer.” I don’t know. What do you think Robert?

      3. You’re more than welcome. Life is just a mirror of your heart. As to your question – I think that if I had to learn about you from your poetry then I would get a layer or two in, but no deeper. Or maybe I would be all the way inside your heart and would only find myself a layer or two closer to your outside. Not sure. I’ll tell you one thing: you reveal yourself more in chats and conversations than you do in poetry. You’re free and uninhibited in your talk (and rather multi too). Your poetry touches your dreams but your chat touches on the dreams that you’ve made real. 😉

      4. Thank you, Robert. You are truly kind. We constantly reinvent ourselves. Or so I think.

      5. I totally agree. As someone famous once said: I am multitudes. If we forget the need to change then we are on our way to the grave. Or so I think. 😉

      6. I know – I kind of get short of energy and don’t pay full attention to the things I say. Sorry about that. And to make matters words, I seem to have gotten into the habit of replying in the night and so here I am again, at twenty to ten feeling tired. 🙁 Do you have a routine for your blogging activities?

      7. Hello Robert, thank you for your reply. Please, don’t feel bad. We all get tired.
“Do you have a routine for your blogging activities?” I wish to, but I don’t. Teaching in an American university does not allow for a schedule (well, it depends on the university) . Yes, I know when I teach, but faculty meetings, conferences, and other activities are not on a set schedule. I do what I can. I post when I can. I read when I can. That’s my story 🙂

      8. I don’t mind telling you, but I do not want to tell you in public. Let’s have a private discussion sometime.

      9. I can’t. I promised (myself and my wife) that I would not disappear into private conversations. I can get into trouble there. I can get intensely personal and then … trouble. Can I respectfully withdraw the question?

      10. Nice one. 🙂
It’s nearly dinnertime here in England and so I’m just chilling in this space between my Software Developer hat and my Husband hat. It’s important to have these little times to oneself, right? 🙂

    1. My Dear Thomas,
My most sincere thanks for your comment and your praise. I am humbled and honored by your words. In fact I was left breathless after I read them.
      Thank you again.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
      Sincerely
      Gabriela

      1. You are a gem Yassy. Thank you so much for your support. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

  7. Dearest Button I had not seen you in my reader for ever so long so I went into your site, and congratulations my friend. What a lovely accomplishment Button! Such a magnificent piece of writing and how wonderful that Kevin Watt included it in his Anthology. Congratulations to him as well!

I have read this poem before, I know I have, or have I gone mad, too many lines that stand out because they are so uniquely beautiful. Have I lost my mind, I am pretty sure I have read these lines over and over again, while admiring their brilliance. How does one forget lines such as:

“Imprinted on my body the number twelve; the twelve horses of the sun-chariot.
He, the seller of time, looks at me.
His voice penetrates the membranes of my cells.
One hour of impossible love for two dimes.
I, who can foresee the future, buy.
The hour wraps around my hips like a passion vine around a tree.”

“Moonlight Love,” what a beautiful poem to include, in a book about “Words of Power.”

I am sorry to hear that you hurt your ankle but happy that you are getting better my friend. I too have been sick with the flu. Got tested just to be sure. Finally, feeling a bit better, I am happy to say. Stay safe my dear friend. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you (J) honeybun

  8. My Dearest Honeybun,
Thank you for your wonderful words. As always I am truly grateful for your support.
I am sorry to hear you were sick. I hope you are feeling better. Sending you love and hugs.
Tons of apologies for not being present. I still have to visit your site and I will. I will be there hon.
May you have a blessed day tomorrow.
    Love
    G (Button)

      1. We will do it. Please write me after January 1. On a different note, I did receive your latest email and I apologize for not replying sooner. I do have an answer for you. I will write back this weekend 🤗

  9. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Oh my gosh. LOVE, love, LOVE this. I’m going to go spinning lost in a beautiful way for the rest of the day after binge-reading You. Lord!!! Thank You! 🤗❤️😊!!!

    1. Thank you so much Katy. I am so grateful to you for your wonderful words. You are such a gem.
      xoxoxo…
