My new piece Autumn Reflections up at Free Verse Revolution #short stories #short prose #poetic prose

My Dear Readers
My new piece Autumn Reflections up at Free Verse Revolution.

I walked on the street between the two rows of those old homes with their locked doors, their blue peeling walls, and their sleepy eyes concealed by dark brocade drapes.

I wanted you. First, the song seemed to come out of nowhere.

Then on the opposite sidewalk I could see the children dressed in white, blindfolded, their feet floating above the cracked asphalt like some withered autumn leaves carried by a psychedelic wind.

The children sang.

I could make out the refrain: β€œWe can’t see, we can’t hear.”

    1. Thank you my dearest Ely. You are a good and talented friend. I am glad I’ve met you.
      Sending plenty of love.
      Gabriela

    1. Michelle, I am humbled and honored by your words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May the rest of your day be filled with joy.
      Love
      Gabriela

  1. There are so many who won’t see and refuse to hear. I wish it was all a dream. Wonderful poem, Gabriela.

    1. Good morning Timothy. Thank you so much for your comment. You are right. I hope everyone is well. Sending hugs.

  2. This was so beautiful and stark. It was truly a wholesome experience and by the end, I was lost for words.
It started almost like a bright sunny day, but as it approaches the end, it was truly terrifying. And in a good way of course. Surely dark and stunning.
“I choked” you say, well you have left us in goosebumps with yet another embodiment of life.
Eeks, still trying to piece it together. Let’s see if I have luck.
    Yours
    Shanyu.

    1. Shanyu, my dear, thank you so much for your kind words. You humble me all the time. Can you please do me a favor? This post does not look the way I set it. It does not have spaces between sentences; the whole setting looks terrible to me. How does it look to you?

      1. It looks just fine to me actually. It does look like a prose more than poetry but I guess the words are just as beautiful. One suggestion, you could actually type out everything beforehand on a document or something. My block editor gets kinda weird at times, so I do that.

      2. Thank you so much Shanyu. The view that I get is of one single paragraph that runs with no spaces. I created four blocks and all of them are smashed in one. On my site I can see the post correctly. On the reader is a total different story. I spoke with WP. I am not going to qualify in any way my experience with them. I hope they can fix the problem. My reader does not work correctly.

Anyway, my dearest friend, thank you again for taking the time to reply.
Thank you also for your beautiful and insightful comment. You are a darling.
Sending you plenty of love and looking forward to your next post.

      3. I hope your problem is solved dearest friend.
I’ll be here to help, and please know you’ve got a friend.
Sending you a vampire martini with loads of love. I hope you like the post. Cheers

      4. Hello, Shanyu, thank you for asking my friend. My problem is not solved. It’s a reader problem. And it’s spreading to other posts altering their format in the reader not on my site. It took me two hours to make WP understand. I redone the last post using the new editor which makes the problem go away. I guess WP has done some updates and my site was impacted. I cannot spend more time on this. I will use only the new editor and pray everything will be fine.

“vampire martini with loads of love” Aw.. thank you. I need that love now.

” I hope you like the post” I did not see anything new on your side. I will check again.
        Sending love, martini, and magic.
        Yours
        G.

      5. I am so sorry to hear that my friend. It can truly get difficult when that happens. I saw some updates to my reader too, but nothing that has caused much damage. I so hope the site is restored to its original state.

Are you all right friend? I hope you are. The vampire Martini was for Halloween of course. If it does make you feel any better, I sent some cotton candy margarita too. I hope it sweetens things up.

I posted it a few days back. I don’t know why it doesn’t show. Please take your time through it all.
Thanks for the love, martini and magic.
        Always,
        Shany.u

      6. I am ok thank you for asking Shanyu. I am saving the vampire Martini for Halloween πŸ™‚

  3. Another exceptionally beautiful piece, G! I especially loved the stanza, “The children approached. Their little voices pinched my brain like needles. Their thin bodies reflected in your blue eyes.” The imagery and sensations conveyed in those words were palpable and real. I am so enamored with your work. Sending heaps of love to you!

  6. Dearest Button did you not receive my comment when you posted this masterpiece? I was so personally touched by this piece. So incredibly beautiful and sad at the same time. These words are so hauntingly splendid.

β€œThen on the opposite sidewalk I could see the children dressed in white, blindfolded, their feet floating above the cracked asphalt like some withered autumn leaves carried by a psychedelic wind.”

Your like a visitor who was never completely there, perhaps in-between worlds. Bravo Button!

    Honeybun ❀️

    1. Good morning my fabulous honeybun.
I did not receive any comment on this piece from you.
Oh, you are sweet to call it a masterpiece.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful comment and for being here for me Joni. Your support means the world.
Honeybun, I was half absent from blogging and I will remain half absent perhaps for a while, unless same publisher wants something that is already published on my blog. Then I will post. But for 10 days or so I need to slow down and focus on finishing my research and participating in several conferences. It will be great if I can focus on my family too. Which is not going to happened because I have too many deadlines and too much work to do. I am grateful to all editors that are asking for my work. I may be able to make some deadlines for them but..

I hope you are well sweetheart. I hope you are having a glorious morning.
Love, success, and blessings to my dearest friend (honeybun) from G (button)

      1. Oh it is so wonderful to hear from you. I am sorry you didn’t receive my first comment. I installed VPN on my phone and computer and had nothing but trouble so I have closed the application.

I am sorry to hear you are so busy you can’t enjoy your glorious success my dearest Button. It all sounds so exhausting. So much work for professors and all teachers.

Your piece was so amazing it was a most beautiful masterpiece. Maybe after the second book you can live off of the proceeds and do lectures on writing free verse all over the world my friend.

I will say prayers for strength, rest and joy for your success. I am so happy for you dear Button, I told you things would be crazy because of the beauty of your words. I know you are very grateful, just tired.

I hope you will have time to enjoy your family soon too. Thank you for letting me know how you are dear Gabriela. No need to respond to this, just send back a flower 🌸 so I know you received my response.
Take care of yourself my friend.
        Love you bunches,
