My piece “Dematerialization” published by Spillwords Press #prose #short prose #Gabriela M #Gabriela Marie Milton

It was a sort of dematerialization that left behind the scent of orange blossoms and the vague memory of sultry afternoons growing by the margins of the pond: those afternoons in need for seed germination. I am sure you can remember them.

You and your love for me which have always looked for my blood. I told you I am air and therefore I do not have a body. I fill the space in which other bodies manifest themselves.

I am every breath you take in your nights of love when …please continue reading here

      1. We are all doing well. The kittens are grwoing, fiesty, smart and fun. Spunk’s making the rounds. He goes out the kitty door, walks around the house, scratches at the window by the front door with a concerned and desparate look on his face. I have to let him in and bless him. He goes out of the kitty door, and 5 minutes later he’s desperately scratching at the window again. I’m living the life of a cat herder. How about you and Maya?

      2. Good evening Timothy. I am glad everyone is ok. Spunk is wonderful. Sending him hugs. In fact sending hugs to everyone. Cats are in charge. You know it 🙂 “I’m living the life of a cat herder.” That’s so good Timothy 😉 You put a smile on my face.
Maya and I are ok, thank you for asking. She stated going in the master bedroom closet during the day which worries me a bit. She usually does not hide. However, if I call her she comes out immediately. Perhaps I am hypersensitive because Monsieur Bonbon used to go and hide in that closet after he got sick.

Wishing everyone a beautiful evening and a great Sunday.

      3. Spunk used to sneak into the closet and eat our clothes. That put a large tab on his account. When kitties don’t feel good they will hid. You have to watch kitties carefully. They will hide they’re sick until it’s really serous. Then you end up with a lot of medicating and vetinary expenses. We’ve been there many times.

      4. Eat your clothes? Spunk seems to be the ruler of the house 🙂
“When kitties don’t feel good they will hid.” That is why I am worried about Maya. She needs to have a check up. I postponed everything because of the Covid but I think I need to get her to the vet.
I’ve been there with Monsieur Bonbon and Leila too. I know those things too well.
You guys have fun tomorrow. Enjoy!

      5. It’s just part of is destructive behavior. He will try to eat or at leat chew up and claw up most anything of value he can get his Spnky teeth and claw on.

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a sweetheart. May the rest of your weekend be wonderful. Hugs.

  1. That was spell binding and I loved the move from the breath of life to death and back in such a fluid way. I see why this won such an acclaimed award. Congratulations on your work!
5 Stars and I think I voted, if it was just a click.. ❤️ Have a lovely day!❤️

    1. “I loved the move from the breath of life to death and back in such a fluid way.” Thank you so much for your beautiful comment Cindy. You made my day sweetheart.
This piece just got published. It did not get any award for it. Yet 🙂 The 2019 Author of the Year Award – that I received – is given by Spillwords Press to the most popular author in an entire year. I got it in February 2020 for all my 2019 publications. We will see who will get next February the 2020 Author of the Year Award.
Thank you again for your beautiful words and for your support, Cindy.
      xoxo

      Sending you plenty of love
      Xoxoxo….

  2. Good afternoon dearest Button, I love the mystery and intrigue in this piece. It is gorgeous as always and I just love the way you ended this poem.

“It’s summer: pink roses, fresh lips, quiet balconies.

May I have my black nightgown back? I want to feel its silkiness against my skin.

    Oh, you are right.”

You always bring something wonderfully edgy and exciting when you post. Something to look forward to. I don’t remember seeing this post on the 23rd my friend. You certainly got my five star vote on this one. I love the line about the cicada as it is such a part of where I live.

Beautiful as always my dear friend! I am sending warm thoughts, lots of love and blessings your way.

    Love always,
    honeybun

    1. Hey my dearest honeybun
Thank you for the praise and for the marvelous words. You are such a blessing. One line that I am so glad you liked “It’s summer: pink roses, fresh lips, quiet balconies.” I like that line too 🙂 Can you see the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene here? 🙂
“I don’t remember seeing this post on the 23rd my friend” I didn’t see it either. But you are right it was published on the 23. I think I know why 23 🙂
Thank you for the warm thoughts, love and blessings. They brighten my days Joni.

I am behind with my readings, but I will be heading to your site soon sweetheart.
Sending you a big bouquet of fresh flowers. And of course, plenty of love!
      G (Button)

      1. Oh Button your poetry inspires the creativity in me to dig deeper, try harder, and to be as creative as my mind can possibly go. You make these wonderfully magic pieces look easy as they flow so beautifully together, line by amazing line.

I am sorry I didn’t see it on the 23rd I would have voted then as would my husband, he adores your work. We both do.

Don’t worry about being behind please I was too. My back has been out and reading/writing is hard on my neck.

Thank you for the flowers the house was asking for some and now it is alive with lovely scents. Love to you my dear friend. Thank you for writing so marvelously. Honeybun ❤️💕🤗💖🌺

      2. It does not matter I did not see on the 23. I am sure I got an email letting me know but I have tons of emails that I did not get to read yet.
Again, honeybun, thank you for the praise.

Now to the most important thing: I am so sorry to hear that your back has been out. Perhaps light exercise and a hot stone massage will help. I hope you feel better sooner and I hope the writing is going well.
Sending you more love. Have a blessed weekend hon.
        G (button)

      3. Great advice my friend. I have always been an exercise nut but a hot stone massage sounds divine. Yes, I am continuing to write and with time hopefully I will improve my art. Sending you much love sweetie. 🤗💕❤️ honeybun

      4. Your art is wonderful Joni. Problem with massages now is that most people don’t what to go out to get them and I understand that. Perhaps your husband can help you 🙂
        xoxoxo…

      5. Thank you dear friend. You are so sweet, my husband gives me a massage almost every night. Love to you dearest Button. Honeybun 🤗💕❤️💖😘

      1. Oh wow…. Is this true???? I am smiling .. 😊😊😊. But thank you so much Gabriela for reading my posts. Getting a lovely feedback from you is to be treasured. 🎇🎉🎈

      2. Awww…is this for real??? I am smiling! 😊😊 This comment will I treasure in my heart! 💖 Thank you very much for reading all my posts my dear favourite poet 🥰🥰

      3. Yes. That is true. You should not be surprised. Your talent shines. It’s my pleasure to read your posts. Sending love ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  3. Such a wonderful flow to your words! Love how you inject intrigue so flawlessly. Congratulations and voted, my dearest. ❤️🌷
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Sending love your way. 💝

    1. My wonderful Punam!!! Thank you so much for reading, for your beautiful words, and for your support my dear. And thank you for your love!!! Love is the most precious thing. Wishing you a splendid weekend and sending love your way too.
      Love and hugs.

  4. “Is it just me, or your breath got heavier?”
I fear no words of mine can keep up with the beautiful fluidity of this piece. It brushes past your skin like a cold nighttime breeze. Not cold actually. Cool.
And even when it does brush past, some parts of it find a way to hook into our skin. And every breath we take with those words, your words, are different. Are more beautiful.
It isn’t just you. Our breath got heavier reading this. A nice kind of heavy, drenched in summer love and cicada songs. Perhaps even pink roses and empty balconies.
O! Queen of prose and poetry, how much magic do you hide?

    1. Aw… you made me blush.
Shanyu, your words are like the scent of summer flowers. You are talented and charming. I am delighted you liked the piece. I am humbled by the praise. “Queen of prose and poetry” Oh, I am not there yet. I know I will never get there but does it really matter? I got your friendship and your love and that makes me happy.
“Our breath got heavier reading this. ” Excellent twist here. Thank you again.
Have a marvelous Sunday my dear friend.
Sending hugs and love your way.
      G.

      1. You are welcome with all my heart dear. Why so low? I can surely say your poetry is up there in the highest of echelons and it will be.
So yes, you are equally charming and talented and God, so kind.
Have a wonderful day. Sending over some cotton candy ice-cream to brighten (sweeten) the day.
        Paz.

      2. Shanyu, you are a real darling. Thank you for the beautiful words and for the cotton candy ice-cream. How did you know that I like cotton candy ice-cream? You sent me to heaven. What can I send you besides my love?

      3. You do? That’s such a coincidence. I hope you enjoy your cotton candy clouds in heaven. Ah, I wish we actually had cotton candy clouds. Just imagine the sugar!
All you need to send me is a smile my friend. For we can do countless wonders with just a smile on our face. (And perhaps chocolate mint ice-cream🙂)
        Cheers.

      4. Yes, I do. You got it. The chocolate and the smile are on their way. I added cotton candy grapes. They are delicious. Enjoy every minute Shanyu. Be happy, my dearest friend.

  5. Oh my….”I told you I am air and therefore I do not have a body. I fill the space in which other bodies manifest themselves.”…..do I need to say anymore…..when these lines talk to me crazily, they unfold…..they take me to the universal energy of the unknown ❤️✨

    1. My dearest Navin, thank you so much.
“they take me to the universal energy of the unknown.” Did I really do that with my words? You know how humbling such a thought is. A thousand thanks to you my friend and much love.
      Yours
      G.

      1. Oh my dearest Gabriela, you’ve no idea what your words do to me….what you do with your words….Enjoy your Sunday in peace ❤️✨🌹🍫

      2. Thank you Navin. I am grateful that my words resonate with you. You do know I am in love with your words, don’t you? Love, piece, and blessings my dearest friend. And a rose.
        xoxoxo

      3. You’re welcome G….I do know that but it’s still hard to believe….coz to me, you’re a world class poetess….your writings are beyond amazing & magnificent….while I’m simply me…. do you know what I mean?….no, I’m not comparing….but simply speculating….how’s that even possible….but then I know, I don’t need to speculate….the support….the kind words….the essence….the appreciation….the love….most importantly, the energy….this beautiful communication & understanding between us….it’s beyond words….I’m truly blessed….much love ❤️

      4. You leave me speechless. “I’m simply me.” Your simply you is fantastic, my dearest Navin.
“.the support….the kind words….the essence….the appreciation….the love….most importantly, the energy….this beautiful communication & understanding between us….it’s beyond words….I’m truly blessed…” All is true Navin. I am blessed too. I am beyond grateful for everything.
Send me the whisper of the autumn from your land and I will send you the whispers of the night from mine.
        Much love
        G.

      5. “Send me the whisper of the autumn from your land and I will send you the whispers of the night from mine.”….that’s simply so beautiful ❤️✨

  6. When I was young, I wished I could be just a spirit without a body. After reading this imaginative poem, I realize I hadn’t thought it through very well. I am glad I didn’t get my wish. 🙂 All the best! Cheryl

    1. Hi Cheryl, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and commenting.
“When I was young, I wished I could be just a spirit without a body.” That is mesmerizing. Thank you so much for sharing this with me.
Plenty of love and all the best to you too.
      xoxoxo..

  7. Hi G,

My breath can’t get heavier because reading your work always takes it away. It’s been too long since I’ve been able to sit and indulge in your beautiful words. This was a delight to read.

How are your online classes going? Mine are going smoothly, but I wish the professors would give us more specific instructions since we can’t ask for clarification. As far as my writing goes, I’ve made progress on a book of poems while I let myself get some distance on the novel before giving it another look. I hope your writing is going well, which, if your blog is anything to go by, it certainly must be.

    Have a lovely evening,

    David

    1. David, so wonderful to hear from you. Thank you for your beautiful words and for the praise. I am thrilled you enjoyed the piece. It’s been long. I know you are busy.

A book of poetry! I can’t wait to read it. When is it going to be ready?
As for my writing I hope to publish another poetry book in the spring and then start working on my novel. I may have to give up blogging the next summer. I can’t handle so many things anymore.

“How are your online classes going? Mine are going smoothly, but I wish the professors would give us more specific instructions since we can’t ask for clarification,” I am surprised you cannot ask. My students ask for things all the time.
We are practically in the middle of the semester and things are CRAZY busy. Anyway, my classes are going very well. However, I had to change the format several times to make most of my students happy. I am handling the chat, the breakout rooms, the blackboard and all the “wonderful” things ZOOM has to offer. And when I think I got it right I get “yeah, but it’s not the same with you being in a real classroom.” 🙂

Let me know how is canvas. Also I would like to hear more about your book of poetry.

Have a wonderful evening and thank you so much for writing.
      G.

      1. You’re very, very welcome. It’s wonderful to hear from you too.

I’ve been crazy busy as well. As soon as I finish one assignment I have to start another. Technically we CAN ask for clarification on things, it’s just much harder to get our professors to respond fully to an email than it is to corner them in class and get a verbal response. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to get an email response. Of course, I know they are as busy as we are. I’m sure your students appreciate you changing the format for their benefit.

I like that Canvas has a mobile app. It makes it easier to get work done on the move. The interface also seems fairly easy to work with, but then I’ve had to spend a lot of time practicing, since it’s my job now to help professors learn the system.

About my poetry book, I hope to have it done by the new year. Some poems depict small everyday moments, some are religious, and some are more surreal. Many of the poems are ones I’ve written for class over the years. Those will have to be revised to be suitable for publication. I’m excited to hear that you have another poetry book in the works yourself. I well know what you mean about having to give up blogging for awhile. I can get to be a bit much. Everyone has to make time for themselves somewhere.

      2. David, thank you for writing back.

I know you are busy. I wish you good luck with everything. I know you shine and I know you will always shine.

“since it’s my job now to help professors learn the system.” Good for you! Our University does the same. It trains us. Can professors learn by themselves? 🙂 Well, we want you to have a job so I am glad you teach them.

“About my poetry book, I hope to have it done by the new year.” That’s wonderful. It’s going to be a real HAPPY NEW YEAR. I am looking forward to reading it.

Take care David and please stay in touch.
        Best
        G.

  8. Congratulations, beautiful Gabriela!!! I LOVE this one!!! Oh my gosh. It gave me chills. And I’m going to marry that second verse. WOW! Sending huge hugs Your way!!! Thank You!!! 🤗❤️😊💕🤗

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Katy. Sending you love and wonderful serenades.
      xoxoxo…

      1. I am humbled and grateful for your support Rene. Sending love ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  9. This is one of my favorites and it is sheer beauty. I certainly put my heart there and enjoyed reading this amazing piece again this morning, even before coffee. Lovely Beautiful Button. Sending big hugs and love floating in the air. ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️❤️honeybun
