My new poem “Contrary” published by Free Verse Revolution #poem #poetry #published

Late afternoon.
Heated streets.
On my left, red shapes of lips on the walls.
On my right, a few bodies looking for shade.
A white bird flies over the tower of the church.
A boy tries to bring it down with a stone.
Inside the supermarket I see…

  2. So beautiful and painful the words of this gorgeous piece, dearest Button. I see a young girl looking for a lovely morning out observing what is around her. “A boy tries to bring it down with a stone.” Then the harshness of the world we live in hits. “Inside the supermarket I see hate in the eyes of two men.” “I gave you one single tin soldier. You grew thousands of them.” This piece is full of metaphors that express the fear of what is happening to “love” in our world. “In the end the boy brought down the bird. Hurt, she falls in the sand.” It is the child in us that is hurt from the pain around us. How exquisitely you have stated this, summarized the state of our world, in your amazing poetic and unique genius. I love that you use the White bird (symbol of peace) as the focus of this poem. This poem brilliantly sums up the hate, discontent, inability to work together and to love one another to work toward the solving of our earthly problems. Love Honeybun

    1. Aw, my dearest Joni, you really humble me with your words. I do not know that I deserve those compliments. I am just very grateful for your friendship and your wonderful interpretation of my poem. Thank you honeybun. You are a blessing.
      Sending love and hugs.
      Yours

      1. Your poem is exquisite Button. As we know throughout history the greatest writers in the world, I am talking about centuries ago, were never happy with their work and never understood the full potential-it had to inspire and move others. Many agonized over their work and look how famous these same people are today. Have a wonderful week my friend and be blessed also. I too, am extremely grateful for our friendship. Love you honeybun โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒบ

      3. Thank you my friend. I am better today. Your prayers and well wishes helped as I believe prayer always does. ๐Ÿค—โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒทLove you Joni

    1. My dearest Hannah, you humbled me beyond words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sending you plenty of love. Have a beautiful weekend.

  3. Such a magnificent poem sweetheart. I am speechless.

“That makes me think that perhaps the contrary of any type of galaxy is hate.”
    Wow!!

“As though love for one soul requires the destruction of all others.”

“In the end the boy brought down the bird.ย
Hurt, she falls in the sand.”

You have expressed beautifully and painfully, how love has turned into something else. Or maybe it’s just that way?
The way you ended this piece, with those hard-hitting beautiful lines….just as an artist flourishes her painting with the last strokes. An astounding poem, really.

    Sending much love and hugs๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’ž
Have a splendid weekend my dearโ™ฅ๏ธ

      1. Thank you so much Tanya. I am so humbled by your comment ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒน

  4. ugh, this isn’t my morning lol I’ve tried to leave this comment three times and it’s not working..so trying again! First, congrats! second, I accidentally un-followed you while trying to click the tiny link on my cellphone with my thumb. I do that so often, I should stop using my cell, ha! hope you are doing well.

    1. Thank you for the congrats Mat. Your appreciation means a lot to me. Donโ€™t worry about things like that. I make tones of mistake when I use my phone. Glad to have you back. I am well thank you. I hope you are well too. What are you working on ?

      1. I’m glad that I was only ‘lost’ for a few moments..I saw right away that I had clicked the wrong link lol..why do they put them so close like that!? Unfortunately..I haven’t submitted anything in a long while. I need to fix that. I’m waiting on a publication to then re-submit those pieces…it’s been months, IDK what’s going on. (poems). I hope you’re working on something you love ๐Ÿ™‚

      2. Good luck with with everything Mat. I am trying to put together my second collection of poetry. It will not be ready till sometime next year. After that I plan to stop blogging and focus on my novel. But letโ€™s get there first.

      3. I hope the process is a wonderful one for you to experience. You’ve already created incredible work..so cheers to the creation of more. -concerning blogging…I can’t keep up. I have such a hard time finding moments to leave a sincere comment..I feel awful about that, but the more a blog grows, the more difficult it becomes..and yet, I still love it. I wish you the best in how that works out for you. I hope to keep in touch when you do ‘stop’ blogging. Being awarded the non-poetic publication of the year while you were awarded the author of the year from the same publication…well, I think that’s pretty cool.

      4. Thank you for your kind words Mat. Cheers to you and to your wonderful accomplishments too.
“I feel awful about that, but the more a blog grows, the more difficult it becomes..and yet, I still love it.” I know what you mean. I feel the same and I love it too.
Those awards were cool. 2019 was a good year.
Wishing you good luck with all your projects. I’ll still be around for half of year so we’ll talk more.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
        Best
        G.

      5. Those phones lo I presses send before wishing you a beautiful Sunday. Sorry about that. ๐ŸŒธ

    1. Amy, sweetheart, i am so sorry to hear that. I did not mean to hurt you.
      Sending you love.
      xoxo

      1. Oh, Gabriele, I know you did not mean to hurt me. You just wouldn’t. I am just so sensitive right now, my aim to steer clear of literature or poetry that is sad. xoxo

      2. Amy, sending you plenty of love. Love heals. You can heal yourself. Scented flowers are all around you.
        xoxoxo

  5. This is beautiful and I love how the poem meanders back to the violence of the boy throwing a stone at the bird, which I then realized was the speaker. The contrary nature of the world is such a puzzling thing. There is so much in contrast and it is difficult to see how two things can even sometimes exist simultaneously. Your ability to capture the beauty of it is spectacular. I look forward to reading more.

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful comment. You humbled me beyond words. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you again and have a fabulous week ahead.
      Gabriela

    1. Thank you so much Kritika. It means the world to me ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’•โค๏ธ
