A poem from my book Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings and a review #poem #poetry collection

The forgetfulness of summer, a poem from my poetry collection Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings [available on Amazon here]

On my left mountains of passion lost in lunar light.
On my right poetry.
An African violet beats her eyelashes.
Spanish moss lingers on the waters of the Bayou.
The smell of fresh cocoa penetrates my nostrils.
Old wounds crawl on my skin; columns of ants searching for honeydew on a tropical tree.
The forgetfulness of summer.
The silence of a blue lagoon.
You.

and another review of my book posted on an online forum on May 17th.

Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings was one of the most beautiful and well written collection of poems I have ever read. Each word was so perfect and beautiful, and the prose were wonderful. With each installment of the prose it added puzzle pieces to a stunning love story with what looks to be a dramatic love triangle between friends….

  2. So beautiful and passionate in every word. It is amazing with a dexterous prosody in the evocations of imagery and language you form and create. There is a serene quality to this piece with traces of remembrance as it once was, with evocations from the summer season; a memory.

Beautiful writing as always. I love this piece and every image you create from the depth of your words. Wow.

  3. Good morning G,

“Old wounds crawl, columns of ants.” No, it isn’t as beautiful or as serene as the others lines you composed in this piece. But it is a perfect example of your brilliant writing and how your bring images to life.

Apologies for focusing on that particular line. As a writer, I admire it the way you made those wounds live and breathe.

Usually, don’t comment on a title, but I really liked this one. Perfect for the piece.
The last three lines were like a melancholy breath that lingers in the air.

    Beautiful piece. 🌹

    1. Good morning Drew
I am so sorry for my late reply. I read your comment yesterday but I had to sleep on.
Drew, thank you so much for your magnificent words. You are a true friend and a true supporter.
“No, it isn’t as beautiful or as serene as the others lines you composed in this piece.” I did not think of this at all. But now that you are saying it I find it astute. You are right.
“you made those wounds live and breathe.” I do not know what’s up with me but it appears to be my specialty 🙂
Thank you for everything Drew. Have a magnificent and restful day.
      Yours
      G.

      1. Making wounds live and breathe…. that’s your specialty??? Good thing you are a professor and not a physical therapist.

  6. Dearest beautiful Button this is one of my favorite poems in your gorgeous book.

“Old wounds crawl on my skin; columns of ants searching for honeydew on a tropical tree.
    The forgetfulness of summer.”

Every line is so gorgeously written it is hard to pick a favorite. Although I must say, I read your words and I can imagine an African violet beating her lashes. How beautiful is that image!

Congratulations on another wonderful review. So happy for you dear Button. Hoping your days and nights are filled with love 💕 from honeybun. 💖🌸❤️🤗🌺

      1. Thank you sweet Button. That is such a gorgeous line. That poem is so delicious. I love every line.

We are doing well actually. I feel people who have no support and are all alone are the ones I worry about. We know God watches over us and we are together so we really are fine. I hope you are doing well my dear friend.

Thank you for all your kind words my sweet friend. You take care also. I am sending lots of love to you and prayers for safety always my friend. I love 💕 you, honeybun.

      2. Joni, I am glad that everyone is well.
“I feel people who have no support and are all alone are the ones I worry about.” That is a big problem right now. Besides donating money or food there is not too much that we can do because we cannot move freely outside. Praying that we can get rid of this virus although the news is not exactly good.
Thank you for the love and the prayers sweetheart.
        Right back to you.
        xoxo
