My Poem “The World of Our Making” translated in Luganda by Jude Itakali #poetry

My Dear Readers,

I am deeply grateful to Jude for translating my poem The World of Our Making in Luganda, the most common local language in Uganda. Jude is a fabulous poet [you can visit his site here], and his gesture brought tears to my eyes.

Jude is a year into blogging and currently he is working on his first poetry book. Writing and reading on his blog takes him places he cannot be and gives him a freedom that has evaded him for so long.

The World of Our Making was previously published by Spillwords [link] and translated in Romanian by Virginia Mateias [link].

My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, can be ordered here. Sending love to everyone.

@Gabriela Marie Milton

  2. Dearest beautiful Button as you know this is one of my favorite poems. To me it speaks through a child to express the way which we have hurt our environment. The entire poem every line is perfect so difficult to set one or two lines aside. The ending is magnificent. I have probably read this ten times and I never tire of any line. What a wonderful ending β€œa kiss and a forgotten dream both gloved.” What a lovely kindness translating your words so more can enjoy this gorgeous piece. Have a blessed Sabbath my dearest. Love and hugs J (honeybun) Thanks for The introduction of your friend.

  9. G, I am so sorry I missed this. This is one of my favourite poems of yours…
    β€œa kiss and a forgotten dream both gloved”

    I think I cry I little as well as fall in love with it every time I read it, and to see it’s been translated – that is a beautiful gesture.

    I hope you are doing well my dearest G. I am missing you, but also so happy that you will be on your vacation. I think you mentioned tennis courts and pools and my imagination has further furnished this to include a grand estate, rolling green lawn, birdsong, and you with a book or a pen, inspired, filtering out the sun with oversized and gorgeous sunglasses. Perhaps some iced tea in hand. Anything I can bring for you? Love you, Rachel xoxoxoxo

    1. My beautiful and fabulous Rachel,
      You do not need to apologize.
      “I think I cry I little as well as fall in love with it every time I read it, and to see it’s been translated – that is a beautiful gesture.” Oh, thank you so much Rachel. Jude is wonderful.
