dematerialization #poem #prose poem #short prose

It was a sort of dematerialization that left behind the scent of orange blossoms and the vague memory of sultry afternoons growing by the margins of the pond: those afternoons in need for seed germination. I am sure you can remember them.

You and your love for me which have always looked for my blood. I told you I am air and therefore I do not have a body. I fill the space in which other bodies manifest themselves.

I am every breath you take in your nights of love when you think you love other women.  Have you ever noticed how blue and humid is the air you breathe between two kisses? That’s me.

Oh, I agree. Sometimes I may look like plum lips and other times like tiny specs of red wine sprinkled on your shirt. Those are the times when the moon is full, and the cicadas’ wings listen to the vibrations coming from the membrane of their own abdomens.

It’s summer: pink roses, fresh lips, quiet balconies.

May I have my black nightgown back? I want to feel its silkiness against my skin.

Oh, you are right.

I do not need it. I do not have a body.

Is it my imagination or your breath just got heavier?

excerpt from my book in progress: Remembrance of Love [working title]

My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, is available on Amazon here.

The following is an excerpt from a review of Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings written by Fabian Bats. I do not know him. His review is voluntary. Fabian’s words brought tears in my eyes.  I am humbled and deeply honored by his review. His efforts to understand the semiotic of my poetry brought me to my knees.

“The first poem is my favorite in the book; it took a few re-reads to grasp, but when I did, I instantly thought to myself “Genius!”

After my first read, I had no clue what I had just read, “what is the link between the title and the poem?”, I thought, racking my head and moving on to the next poem, hoping for less murky waters to swim in -at the start of the book, it is humorous, I know. However, when I came back to read it again, and started seeing links, I felt butterflies, I marveled at the beauty of the words chosen and how a particular figure of speech was used here or there, and when the stars aligned in my mind, I saw clearly that the author was referring to the night of a honeymoon (it could mean a host of other things to other readers, simply because poetry is art). From this point onward, it was difficult to put the book down.”

Thank you.

  3. Oh, beautiful Button this is amazing work. It takes us to a divine place where we are exposed to all kinds of beautiful visuals about what love can feel like and how it can materialize. “Those are the times when the moon is full, and the cicadas’ wings listen to the vibrations coming from the membrane of their own abdomens.” Such gorgeous metaphors. Congratulations on such an incredibly review and the beginning of your next book. I can’t wait to add that one to my collection. Have a wonderful and blessed day my dearest. Love J (honeybun)

  6. Now this is something I wish I had written. So erotic.

The review was great and so well deserved!

    And finally: Filippos Drakontaidis

Born in 1940. His father was a member of the Resistance and was executed in 1944. He studied in the Sorbonne literature and history, later French literature in Athens and sociology in Paris. His first book was Triptych in 1962. He published it under the pen name F. Filippou. He used the same name for some other of his books, while others he published under his real name. Some of his books have been translated in French, Dutch and Slovenian.

    I hope this helps, dear.

    1. Thank you and thank you from the bottom of my heart to my beautiful and talented friend B. I am so grateful to you sweetheart. Glad you liked my piece and thrilled you found him. Actually tones of thanks for finding him.
It is him who wrote “Quels sentiments combleront jamais l’existence inexistante des hommes de notre temps? [What feelings will ever fill the non-existent existence of the men of our time?] ”
I am going to check online again but I doubt that there is anything that I can buy online. I’ll see what my European friends can do for me. One of them – you – did a lot.
Have a beautiful evening and a wonderful weekend.
      να έχεις μια όμορφη βραδιά.

      1. A pleasure, Gab!

You know, I never read anything by him? Something to rectify as soon as possible. I hope you ll be able to find his work in French. I suppose Amazon won’t be very helpful this time.

Have a great evening yourself 🙂

      2. I did not read anything by him either. But someone characterized one of my works by using that quote.
One way or another I am going to find some of his work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart sweetheart.
        xoxoxo

  7. My breath did get heavier and quicker! What a teaser of an excerpt, leaving one thirsting for more!
Such a wonderful review, Gabriela! You truly deserve it. 🌷❤️😘

    1. Thank you so much Punam. You fill my heart with joy every time you comment. You are such a sweetheart and your appreciation means so much to me. I hope you are ok sweetheart. Sending you plenty of love. Take care of you.

      1. Your posts always leave me in awe of your talent. The joy your words fill my heart with, is reflected in the comments I write. I am doing fine, my dear. Thank you so much for your love. Stay blessed. ❤️🌷

      2. Thank you again Punam. You write marvelous poetry. However, there is one style that you employ from time to time and a recurrence of a theme … I think you know what I am talking about. So when you say you are doing fine that makes me really happy. Thank you for your blessings. Sending more your way.
        xoxoxo

    1. Jay, I can become a reductionist and use less 🙂 That you for the comment my fiend. I hope you are ok.

  8. This is beautiful, so utterly beautiful, raw, passionate and heartfelt. I feel as though I am not using the right words to describe this because this is so much more than that. You take the reader with you on this journey, and it feels like a spiritual enlightening.

I can always imagine the imagery in your poetry and it’s breathtaking. I say this especially since I do not really visualize others’ imagery in their literary pieces that well, but your poetry is fascinating for my mind’s eye. You never fail to move me with your words; you traverse the reader and make them understand the meaning, especially with a piece like this, behind emotional prose and striking imagery.

I am stunned, in awe, and I admire your poetic abilities to create a captivating story through beautiful prose and words that touch the soul, the heart, and the mind.

In summary, I enjoyed reading this piece. It is immersing, the lines rhythmic and haunting with the feeling of a ghost as the narrator: lingering, but leaving a profound long-lasting effect.

    Brilliant piece. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. My dearest Lucy,
I have no words to tell you how moved and humbled I am by your comment. You brought tears in my eyes. Nothing give me more joy than words like these “You never fail to move me with your words; you traverse the reader and make them understand the meaning,” Lucy, I write from my heart trying to connect with my readers’ hearts. If I can do that I feel honored, humbled, and victorious at the same time. My goal here is communication, the transcendence of the wooden language, the creation of an archetypal imagery and journey into ourselves, and the transmission of feelings in a way that can touch lots of readers. In truth I’ve never wanted accolades. All I want is to touch my readers’ hearts; to breath in the same rhythm with my reader. This is what makes me happy as a writer.
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to write such a marvelous comment. You made me happy.
      Have a lovely weekend sweetheart.
      xoxo
      Gabriela

    1. Do you mean G is working on E? I’m kidding. Thank you for your comment Eric. I am glad you did not start like Sam 🙂
How was your tea time today?

      1. When isn’t G working on E – says he with tongue in cheek – Ah, Sam, he’s got his hands full with Erin, in a literary sense that is – and don’t forget there’s also, Amy with designs on him. Tea – a working cuppa today as trying to get more words out of Erin – she doesn’t give them easy…

      2. “and don’t forget there’s also, Amy with designs on him.” Yeah, it’s complicated.
“a working cuppa today as trying to get more words out of Erin – she doesn’t give them easy…” You could buy her flowers. It may work 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Katy. You are a gem. Have a nice weekend sweetheart.
      xoxo

  9. G, I always fall in love with your writing, but this…. more than ever. It is surreal and mysterious, but still hints at love and passion and of one who pervades everything… one who yearns and who is yearned for, a memory, someone who has gone, perhaps dead… I am left longing for more. This has me spellbound and has given me chills. Certainly, it is magnificent ❤️🌸🥀☀️💝💝 xoxo

    1. My beautiful and fabulous Rachel,
You know that I always fall in love with your writings too. And you know on which shore I want to be now. And you know to whom I want to talk right now.
I am so glad you are here Rachel. I hope everything is ok with you. Thinking about you and sending you plenty of love.
My piece.. thank you so much for your beautiful words.
“surreal and mysterious, but still hints at love and passion and of one who pervades everything.” I love your interpretation Rachel but I don’t want to give you chills. I want you to be happy. I am sending you plenty of sunshine, warmth, sage in bloom, and red roses.
What else can I send you sweetheart?

      1. Aww sweet friend… how I would love to talk to you and frequent the shore with you. It is cold now though, perhaps we could choose somewhere warmer? It must be nearly vacation time for you, how wonderful!
What else can you send me?? Well, a note with your words on it would be fantastic. What can I send you?
Love and hugs are a given, of course xoxox

      2. What about if we wear fur coats? Will that help? However, if you want to go somewhere else you know we can go to Tahiti or Hawaii. Wherever you want my fabulous Rachel.
“it must be nearly vacation time for you, how wonderful!” Yes, almost there. I am starting to get ready.
“Well, a note with your words on it would be fantastic” I’ll write to you soon. I promise you a beautiful note.
“What can I send you?” Your love.
Sending you the Northern Star. I am waiting for you the send me the Southern cross. Let’s change their place in the sky! Let’s play with them, Rachel.
        Love and hugs to you.
