It was not love #flash fiction #short prose

I alternate deep and high-pitched tones; opposing predispositions of a breathing universe.

You favor discussions about T’s novel. T was a mediocre writer. Yet he did capture a side of me that fascinates you; a side that looks like those apparitions reflected in the mirrors of our bedroom every night.

What brought T and me together?

It was not love. You know that.

Perhaps it was the knowledge that all combinations are fundamentally flawed.

Did you raise your eyebrows?

No. Don’t touch me. I don’t want to be thrown in the swimming pool anymore.

My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, can be ordered here.
Thank you.

    1. Thank you so much Brad. You are wonderful. I am trilled you think so.

  1. G, I love the playful, intellectual, and intimate knowledge these two characters share of each other. The interchanges are layered with so much implied meaning, you manage to get my imagination whirling, even at this time of night when I should be sleeping. Your breadth as a writer astounds me.

I’m sending you a little more light from the southern cross sweetheart. Have a wonderful day xoxoxo

    1. Rachel, thank you so much for your beautiful words and for light from the southern cross. I miss that light. Probably I miss it now more than ever.
Sweetheart, I am thrilled you liked the piece. I really am.
I hope you had a good sleep.
Sending you sunshine. Summer is here. Roses are ready to bloom. I will send you some very soon.

      1. My dear G, your writing is magnificent.
How come you miss the light from the southern cross now, more than ever? Is that why it is that I feel worried about you? I don’t think that’s the only reason. I can’t shake it. Are you ok sweetheart? I send you a million hugs and so much love ❤️

      2. Rachel, sweetheart, thank you again. I would lie if I would say I am ok.
I went in my life through tragedies. They were not under my control. They just happened. However, when you give someone a hand and that person comes back and spits on you that’s different. I am grateful for your love and for your support, sweetheart. I am grateful for the love and for the support I have home. I am grateful for my friends and for the people in my life that love me beyond words. I am sorry that me not being ok causes so much pain for those around me.
Well, sweetheart take good care of you.
I love you with all my heart.

      3. Honey, I am wrapping you in my love. I’m not going to say I’m sorry to hear this, because I am so glad and relieved that you have told me that you are not ok. Sometimes as a friend, the greatest gift you can receive is for your friend to lean on you. I am so so sorry though that you are going through these things – to be hurt so viscously by someone you were trying to help…. oh G. Please never feel you have to pretend you are ok. Gabriela you are very special to me, and I want to know your sorrows and pain in the same way I want to know your happiness and success.
I love you with all my heart back. I’ll email you xoxox

    1. Victoria, I thought I replied to your comment. I do not know what happened. Thank you for the praise and the wonderful help. I hope everything is ok with you.
      Sending you love.

      1. No problems… and yes, everything is ok here ☀️☀️ the weather is great = make me happy 😃- can sit outside & write/read (#yard). Finally!!!

      2. I am glad to hear sweetheart. Thank you for everything. Sending you plenty of love.

  2. Marvelous Button! “Perhaps it was the knowledge that all combinations are fundamentally flawed.” Just a moment of time where two people not really happy feel the tension of that union. The things that are felt but not said and hurtful things done but not forgotten. Someone perhaps not being true to oneself. I love how you took this exchange and build such a complex picture of a relationship. Great artwork to go with this piece also. Hope you are having a blessed week so far Button. Sending you lots of hugs and love from NC. 🌸🌺😘🤗 honeybun

    1. Honeybun, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful comment and for your interpretation. I am really intrigued by the way you felt this piece and thrilled you liked the artwork.

    1. Thank you so much Jean-Jacques. I am humbled by your words.
May the rest of your day be fabulous.

  3. Wow Gabriela! Wow! I could interpret this in a thousand different ways, and still find there is something hidden in between the words, which you have so beautifully crafted. This is mysteriously mystic, and has immense depth. Are these two different people? Or are they just two sides of the same coin? Is there a third person? I could go on and on. Both about the depth and the beauty of your work. Saying that you are immensely talented would be an understatement.

Love and hugs to you dear🌹🌹❤

    1. My Dearest Ishita, your comment left me breathless. I have no words to thank you for your interpretations, for your wonderful words, and for your support. I am so humbled by everything you wrote. You are unbelievable. My gratitude to you is immense.
May you be happy and blessed forever. May you stay inspired forever.
      Thank you again.

      1. Dearest Gabriela, you are a beautiful soul. And it gives me immense happiness to compliment you, and know that you feel appreciated by it.
I wish you all the happiness in the world🌷🌷

      2. Thank you again sweetheart

    1. Thank you so much Timothy. I am glad you liked it. We are fine. How are you guys? My best to everyone and this morning especially to Laurie 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Jay. You are using the right word. I am thrilled you like it.
      Sending you more hugs 🙂

  4. Wow, so beautifully brilliant. And the last line is fascinating—so many different ways to see that line. The imagery is so vivid, and your words are so smooth to read especially as prose. Amazing, amazing piece. There is so much to it between each line. It is just amazing.

    1. Aw… Lucy… I am humbled and honored by your words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart sweetheart. I’m floating in the sky. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You are a gem.
May you be happy and inspire all of us.

  5. That last image, “I don’t want to be thrown in the swimming pool anymore,” is so great as an ending because, to me, it contrasts well with thoughts of the universe, discussing novels, and romance and the nature of couples. Just as the threat of being touched and thrown in the pool–which could be read literally, metaphorically, or both–pulls the speaker out of their thoughts, so too it halts the poem and brings it to a satisfying, complete conclusion. Having the poem begin by mentioning “opposing predispositions” and then end with an impulse that opposes the earlier images, that is just delightful. Love it, G!

    1. David, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I thought as you did: the last line would make for a good closing but then I started to doubt myself. I am so humbled by your analysis and by your praise. Truly humbled David. Thank you again. You are such a talented writer and such a wonderful friend. I’ll will get to your site soon because I can’t wait to see what you posted.

      1. You’re so, so welcome. Thank you for your kind words in return. It is my turn to be humbled. There’s no rush on getting to my site; it’s not going anywhere. 🙂

      1. Bo, thank you so much for asking. For the moment it did. Anyway, I am going to take a break from blogging in the beginning of June. I’ll think about if I want to make this blog private or if I want to post less often. It has been a traumatic experience. Not every day somebody threatens to chop you head under the veil of poetry yet using clear sentences from my own writing so I will understand whose head he is talking about. And it was more..
Anyway, Bo , thank you asking. You are a gem. I hope everyone is ok.

      2. Jesus, Gab. Why doesn’t WP do sth about it?
        Please take care.
That’s a good idea. Take your time. If it that hadn’t happened, this place can be overwhelming, so find a balance that suits you best.

      3. Bo, sweetheart, thank you so much for your support. I did not let WP know and I did not talk to anyone here on WP about. I only told you. Of course other people can see it here but that’s all. If it stops I am fine. If it does not I have to rethink my strategy.
Thank you so much for your support and take good care of yourself.
        Love to everyone.

  6. What a powerful & beautiful writing….Loving these lines….
“Perhaps it was the knowledge that all combinations are fundamentally flawed.

    Did you raise your eyebrows?
No. Don’t touch me. I don’t want to be thrown in the swimming pool anymore.”

Plus Radharani’s image you’ve chosen….is like adding that extra spicy fire in the deep layers of emotions….

    You are amazing G….✨

Lots of love right back to you.

  9. In-ter-es-ting. Very. I reread several times digesting as I did the imagery, the words so fraught with “opposition”, dichotomy, hate/love. You left me hanging on to my breath as I felt as though you left me dangling over the edge. Awesome write, Gabriela. Your talent is astounding!! xo

    1. Oh, my dearest Amy, you are such a wonderful soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read and for your beautiful comment. Your support means the world to me.
