In the dark, a rose #poem #love poem #prose poem

Scars left by the teeth of the soul.
A dove turns black.
A crow turns white.
Inversion.
A serpent coils around a tree.
No daylight left.
I say I love you and I lift my eyes toward the moon.
In the dark a rose contours the shape of my left thigh.
Oh, you are here.
I thought so.

  2. Scars left by the teeth of the soul.
    A dove turns black.
    A crow turns white.
    Inversion.

The visual impact of those words is powerful. Another piece of beautiful literary art, Poetess!

    1. Good morning Timothy. Thank you. “The inverse properties of love.” Ah, you read me right.
Have a great day and thank you for being here. Say hello to everyone.

      1. Thank you so much. I saw a water moccasin by the lake this morning. I swear he had green fascinating eyes. But I did not get too close 🙂

      2. Lucky you. It probably did have green eyes. You need to keep a good distance from water moccasins. We don’t have them out here. Too high and dry.

      3. I know. I stay away. They come on my back terrace and they basked in the sun. I got someone to put around the house something called snake away. I hope they would not come so close anymore.

    1. Thank you for your wonderful words.
Of course you can share it. I am honored.
      Gabriela

  4. Good morning G,

Those powerful opening lines gripped us and you never let go. A magical transformation (rebirth) of beauty and love. Gorgeous as always. What else could we expect from you?

Hope this day brings mucho happiness, warmth, and inspiration.

    1. Good morning Drew
I hope you feel strong and confident.
Inversion is a symbol for rebirth. The sacrificial blood becomes life. That constitutes the cornerstone of most religions. Brilliant read Drew. Brilliant.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the read and for your praise.
mucho happiness, love, warmth, and success to you Drew.
My fingers are crossed and my thought are with you.
      G.

      1. Smiling. I don’t always get them right, but the subtle symbols were there.

I believe serpents are also symbols of transformtaion and rebirth (since they shed their skin).

Thank you for the praise and beautiful wishes. Feeling strong, confident, and very hopeful.

        Gracias

      2. You are right about serpents too.
Let’s say 99.99% of the time you get them right.
“Feeling strong, confident, and very hopeful.” Here we go. You are my hero.
Keep feeling strong. I will keep praying.
        Enjoy your day Drew.
        Yours
        G.

Sending you more good wishes and a hug.

  5. Such a powerful poem! It really soared and collided with the mind to create this symphonic understanding between the soul of the meaning, and the tender arrangement of the words.

  7. Gabriela, your words

Scars left by the teeth of the soul.
    A dove turns black.
    A crow turns white.
    Inversion.

stole my breath and you got me hooked so hooked. I fell into a spiral reading on, feeling your words come to life. The serpent hissed in my ear, a symbol of transformation around life, a tree. Red rose ….. deep for both death and love. Oh yes there is death in love. How could I forget? Gorgeous imagery and powerful prose. Not sure if I can get my breath back. (smile) xo

    1. Thank you so much for your gorgeous interpretation my dearest Amy. You words are stunning. They make me happy. Your support and your generosity humbles me.
I can’t get over your words and the images they create.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I am sending you freshly cut red roses and plenty of love.
      You are an extraordinary soul.
      xoxoxo

      1. You are ever so welcome, Gabriela. I “feel” you and hence my heart responds as you seem to be able to pull from her words birthed within your words. You amaze me, simply put. For in our meeting, it would seem as if two souls, separate for a long time, immediately upon touch recognized the other. We mirror one another. You say I am an extraordinary soul which only means you yourself are one as well.
I receive those freshly cut red roses, breathe ever so deeply of their exquisite scent and with blush upon my cheek, say thank you. My world has been changed greatly since the day we first said hello. Now I know for sure my soul family is really here. xoxo

      2. My dearest Amy, I read your comment several times. I feel grateful and blessed. I am in awe with you gorgeous words and with the way you use them to express your feelings.
“my heart responds as you seem to be able to pull from her words birthed within your words.” I have tears in my eyes. Thank you. This is so beautiful, so beyond words…

“For in our meeting, it would seem as if two souls, separate for a long time, immediately upon touch recognized the other. We mirror one another” Yes, it does feel liked this. We do mirror each other. That is rare and it’s precious. I am humbled by that.

“I receive those freshly cut red roses, breathe ever so deeply of their exquisite scent and with blush upon my cheek, say thank you.” Oh. I am so glad you liked the scent of the roses. What else do you like? What else can I send you?
“My world has been changed greatly since the day we first said hello. Now I know for sure my soul family is really here” Amy, this will stay in my heart forever because now you are in my heart. And I hope to offer you comfort, friendship and beauty. I will try hard. Thank you for the gift of your friendship.

Any, I moderate my comments. If a comment does not appear know that it got to me and I will definitely read it and reply to it.

      3. Within your touch my life forever has changed. Thank you, Gabriela. Thank you. I did what I planned on doing today and now back just to drop another grateful thank you in your lap. Much love to you! xoxoxo

      4. My dearest Amy. I apologize for my late reply. I was snowed with work. And in the mist of so many pressures your words are like the most beautiful summer breeze.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
        xoxoxo
        Gabriela

      5. Thank you Amy. So you are both busy. We have a lot in common sweetheart.
Sending you love. May you have a fabulous day.

      6. I replied to this, Gabriela. I’m crossing fingers I’m in your SPAM. I could’t duplicate what I said, for it was said in the Moment. xo

      7. No need to duplicate it. I got your comment. I am in love with it.
        xoxoxox

  8. This poetry is breathtaking Gabriela, as always I’m pressed For words to do justice to such beauty. You are truly a gifted poet dear lady.

  9. Loving the Inversion…so powerful…and then these lines….
“I say I love you and I lift my eyes toward the moon.
In the dark a rose contours the shape of my left thigh.” 🔥❤️

    1. Thank you so much Navin. You kindness knows no limits. I just finished reading you poem. I left a comment. I hope you get it. Your poem is a masterpiece.

      1. Your most welcome Gabriela….I’ve just read your lovely comment and have replied right away….you are a very kind & humble being….you must know that….

    1. Thank you so much. Your beautiful words made my day more beautiful.
      Have a wonderful week,
      Gabriela

  10. Sweetheart, your poems… they are like my treat to read, I slip into them and am enveloped like they’re made of satin, or I’m whisked around the room in a tango, or in a sigh of beauty or love or passion, or sadness. I love this poem, that the dove is black and the crow white, the inversion. Nothing is what it seems… nothing is pure black or pure white (must be on the same wavelength because my last poem has a similar theme). I also love these magical lines – the sensuality of the rose in the dark.

In the dark a rose contours the shape of my left thigh.
Oh, you are here.
I thought so.

G, it is an obligation to read and comment on your poems, an obligation in treating myself to doing the things I love to do.

I hope you’ve had a wonderful day sweetheart ❤️🌺🌺🌺 xoxox

    1. My Dearest Rachel. You put a million smiles on my face. You made me happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful comment.
“must be on the same wavelength because my last poem has a similar theme.” I suspect we are for a while now. I keep asking you if you are ok 🙂 Is it me that is not and I’m just projecting?

“G, it is an obligation to read and comment on your poems, an obligation in treating myself to doing the things I love to do.” You are such a sweetheart Rachel. You are fabulous. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Rachel I hope you are well. I hope your week is going fantastic. I did not receive any notification that you posted but first thing tonight after I finish some work I’ll check your site. I need to read a poem written by you Rachel. I need to immerse myself in your beautiful work. I need a treat.
Sending you plenty of love and hugs.
      xoxoxoxo

      1. Ahhh G, you are a sweetheart. In the same way you would not want me to feel obligated to read or comment on your poems, I would not want you to feel that about mine! It’s a big fear of mine actually… with any of my followers.

I am ok G, I promise. What about you? Our restrictions are lifting a little as of tomorrow. I will return to my office next week. I think I’m looking forward to it.

Sending you huge hugs and lots of love my beautiful friend. Xoxoxox

      2. You are a sweetheart Rachel.

” in the same way you would not want me to feel obligated to read or comment on your poems, I would not want you to feel that about mine! It’s a big fear of mine actually… with any of my followers” Rachel, honest to God how many people do you think care about things like that besides you and me? I do not want to generalize, yet I think it is not a large number. I think like that too and I should not. So I am told.

“Our restrictions are lifting a little as of tomorrow. I will return to my office next week. I think I’m looking forward to it.” That’s wonderful. Enjoy but still be careful. It’s unclear what is going to happened here. Some restrictions will be lifted soon but…
Well, it’s the end of the academic year. No graduation ceremony except something virtual. It’s painful for me and its painful for my students. No clear picture on how teaching will proceed in the fall. I will take a vacation but I have to work on my research during the summer and I am in two university committees that will remain active. No clear picture on how the university will be financially impacted 2021-2022. We are dealing with a lot of uncertainties like many other people.

        That’s about it sweetheart.
I did not decide what I am going to do during my vacation. Still thinking about.

Sending you plenty of hugs and love. I hope you picked up your car.
        xoxoxoxo
        G.

    1. Thank you so much Flavio. Your words mean the world to me. I hope everything is well.

    1. Thank you so much Jude. I hope you found it more beautiful than dangerous 🙂
We well my friend. Sending you hugs.

      1. Oh, thank you, thank you… wait a minute! Let me absorb that “danger is always part of an adventure” 🙂
        Sending you hugs.
        G.

  11. So beautiful G. I discovered that for some reason you were no longer popping up in my reader 😕 I wondered why I hadn’t seen any of your lovely poems. WP dropped my following but I have resolved it. Hope you are well my friend. Congratulations on your book of love poems! 💕

    1. Aw… Ash thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so grateful to you. Your support means a lot. Wishing you a fabulous evening. I hope you are well 🤗

      1. Thank you so much for saying my writing is a gift. You know I think yours is a gift too. 🤗💐🌸🌹

      1. Welcome G, if you can spare a little time to read my work from your busy schedule it will really matter to me, as I greatly inspired by your work and motivated by the passion you carry with your writing. But I understand its not easy to read every followers work, so only if you can it will help me a lot to build my writing. Take care, stay safe

      2. Sweetheart, two things:
        1) I would love to and I promised you I will do it. I love your writings and I did not forget. I will take a break from posting beginning of June. I will only read for about 10 days. I promise you will have my feedback then. But
        2) I mentioned to you I get disconnected from you all the time. I read your posts only when you comment on mine. I cannot see your posts in my readers or see any notifications. Well that is because I cannot follow you. I have to have a chat with WP to see where the problem is. We’ll solve it.
