Passions: a thank you and a new poem entitled “why?”

My thanks to Diana – the fabulous author of The Shattered Sea Duology; The Rose Shield Tetralogy; Myths of the Mirror [please find Diana’s  books and their respective links to Amazon here] – for reviewing my book Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings [available on Amazon here].

Diana, I am deeply grateful to you for reading my book and spending the time to review it.  I am humbled and honored by every word you wrote.

Now, for you my dear readers my new poem Why?

The hypnotic red of the flower pots molded in blood.
Dissimulation of an afternoon sacrifice.
An excruciating sunset crosses its fingers.
I tempt fate.
I see the child.
Toys forgotten in the sands.
A yellow like the aroma of the corn on the cob.
The sky dies in the convulsions of your “whys.”
Why?

  1. Beautiful Button I can’t pick out a couple of lines that I love the most as each line is exquisitely written. I feel overwhelming loss that touches the very earth. So beautiful your metaphors. Also what a wonderful review for your book and every word true. I hope you have an amazingly blessed day my friend. Love J (honeybun) 😘❤️

    1. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and your support Darren. You touched my heart. I do not do my own artwork. I wish. Perhaps I will start painting some day in the future.
If the artwork does not have attribution either it is in my collection (and the author does not want her/his name disclosed) either it does not require attribution. Everything else has proper attribution on my blog.
Wishing you a fabulous day and thank you again for the praise.

  7. It is my turn to sit with you and ask a question – this time it’s ‘why’. I don’t know sweetheart, but this poem just about broke my heart with this question. There is a sense of a memory that is too painful to cross paths with, that to encounter would be to tempt fate, to tempt falling apart in the immensity of it, even the sky will die in convulsions of it.
“An excruciating sunset crosses its fingers.
I tempt fate.
I see the child.
Toys forgotten in the sands.
A yellow like the aroma of the corn on the cob.”

Honey, the loss and sadness this creates is immense. My own heart convulsed in it, I can barely breathe. Your power as a writer knows no bounds. The depths of your soul don’t either. I see such grief and loss in this poem. This poem is magnificent.

I love the review – like melted chocolate, so perfectly said. I send you more and more chocolates so you never run out. 💝💝💝💝. I send you all my love, too.
    Xoxoxo

    1. My fabulous Rachel,

Your words are poetry. They are magnificent. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a stellar writer and you have a wonderful soul.

“Your power as a writer knows no bounds. The depths of your soul don’t either. I see such grief and loss in this poem. This poem is magnificent.” Sweetheart what can I say? You took my breath away. You are so generous and so supportive. I say that with all my heart. And my heart is filled gratitude at this late hour.

Rachel I hope you are doing well. I hope this autumn brings you plenty of love and happiness. May you receive the gift of happiness because you surely bring happiness in other people’s life.
Rachel, your feelings are silk. There is no negativity in you. You are all light. May you always receive light sweetheart.

      Love and hugs to you.
      G.

      1. G, I thank you so much for seeing me like this. I don’t feel I deserve it but your light shines and brightens me. And this is your poem and we’re meant to be discussing that – which I’m still in complete awe of.

On another note, I went to amazon to write a review for your book but apparently I have not made enough purchases through them to qualify! We don’t tend to use amazon much here..

Have a beautiful day dear friend, I am just going to bed xoxox

      2. My Dearest Rachel,
I hope you had a good sleep. That is important. Please tell me you did.

“I went to amazon to write a review for your book but apparently I have not made enough purchases through them to qualify! ” Sweetheart your gesture humbles me beyond words. I hope you know that. Amazon became very “picky” when it comes to reviews. Newer customer cannot write reviews. No family members and very close friends are allowed to review the book. Now, let’s just pose here for a moment. How does Amazon know who are your family members and your very close friends? That is really scary.

Rachel, Thank you for everything you have done for me. I hope you are enjoying your week sweetheart.
        Sending you plenty of love.
        xoxoxo
        G.

      3. I had a good sleep sweetheart. Sorry I’m late to reply to this, I’ve been limiting my screen time because I’ve had a bout of vertigo in and off these last few days. Feeling better today though.

Re amazon – HOW DO THEY KNOW?? I wish it was because they detect the love….

How is your week going sweetheart? I’ve missed you.

Lots of love. I mean, lots of it
        ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
        (See).

      4. Hi sweetheart,
“because I’ve had a bout of vertigo in and off these last few days” Are you OK? Don’t you think you need to see a doctor? Rachel, please, take care of yourself. When you have time let me know how you feel. I am worried about you.
” I’ve been limiting my screen time” I am glad to hear. I will be doing the same soon.
You don’t to apologize Rachel. You reply when you feel like. I am here.
” I wish it was because they detect the love….” How sweet. I wish that to. Unfortunately we know that’s not the case.

My week? Two days ago my car refused to start. It was just the battery but still I had to call AAA. I have to finish grading. Classes are over. However, I still have to hold two workshops via Zoom. I am ready to submit two academic articles. I cut corners so I will probably get “revise and resubmit” since both articles will be peer-reviewed.I hope I don’t have to do major surgery on both of them because that will take my entire summer. In the beginning of June I am going to go in vacation for 10-12 days. . I am tired but ok Rachel. I am more worried about you.
When you have time please let me know how you feel. No pressure.
Sending you plenty of love and good wishes sweetheart.
        xxoxoxo

      5. Oh G!! I have had car trouble too! Completely unexpectedly, I thought my car was truly the least of my worries and in good condition. Turns out… no. It’s getting fixed at the moment.

It sounds like you have been so busy honey. I’m always in awe of all that you manage to do. I hope your articles fly through the submission process, although I know how finicky they can be. I want you to have your summer sans article surgery! 10-12 days holiday – near or far dear G? How wonderful, and just what you need.

I am ok G. The vertigo is positional, and although unpleasant isn’t anything to worry about it. I’m feeling much better now.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Wishing you everything but most of all a little more sleep and rest xoxoxo

      6. “The vertigo is positional, and although unpleasant isn’t anything to worry about it.” I’ll take your word for that.
“10-12 days holiday – near or far dear G?” Rachel, I did not make my mind yet. I can find plane tickets any time if I want to fly far. However, I don’t want to spend to much time in the plane. So I’ll play it by ear. I am not there yet.

Did the cotton candy grapes got there?
        xoxoxoxo

      7. Got the cotton candy grapes. They are decadent and sweet. Our cars…. perhaps they are protesting the rejection of lock down? They’ll come round, I know it. A holiday will be amazing, no matter where you go. I’m just so happy you will be able to take one. One day hopefully it will be Tahiti. I’ll meet you there.

        Xoxoxox

      8. Ay, I am glad you got them. “They are decadent and sweet” Yes, they are.
“Our cars…. perhaps they are protesting the rejection of lock down?” I don’t know Rachel. I hope yours gets fixed sooner than mine.
“One day hopefully it will be Tahiti. I’ll meet you there.” That will be marvelous.
        xoxoxoxoxo
