the world of our making #poem #poetry

on the last Saturday of every month
I see the little girl
who lives inside the world of withered roses and of plasticine
the world of our making cries
delusional
a window thinks it is alive and tries to dance
and in the world of withered roses and of plasticine
where ravens talk
pianos have shut up
I see the little girl
her dress, pale pink
her eyes, mad blue
on her cheeks two tears pantomime a waltz
and on the last Saturday of every month
from the world of our making
the world of withered roses and of plasticine
I send to you my love
a kiss and a forgotten dream
both gloved

My book, Passions: Love Poems and Other Writings, can be ordered here.
Thank you

  1. Good morning G,

    This is gorgeous.

a kiss and a forgotten dream
    both gloved

How appropriate for these times. So much of this piece rings with the sadness of this world of our making. At least, that is how this felt for me. I know our interpretations vary.

There is so much tender beauty here mixed in with the sorrow. The tears pantomime a waltz, her dress, and eyes all illuminating a world where pianos o longer play, flowers have wilted, and the raven talk. For many, the window has come to life and even become lockdown entertainment.

Brilliant piece. And the second and third read through, even more enlightening.
    Bravo.

    1. Good morning Drew.
Thank you so much for your gorgeous comment. It humbles me. Your generosity and your support humble me. You are fantastic. Your interpretation is fabulous. It is what I had in mind.

Everything ok? Can you leave the inland as planned?

      1. Amiga, this piece was so inspiring because it reminded us of the beauty all around us, it was always there; music, beauty, and lives, that perhaps we took for granted.

I expect life will be different when this is all over. People be a little more appreciate of the routine. And perhaps, some will stop to smell the flowers or adore the sunrise.
        We can hope, can’t we?

Everything is fine. Awaiting for the official decision from the Dominican Congress and what this extension of the state of emergency entails. Should happen early this week. I contacted the airline, they are waiting for a defintion as well.
I will contact the Embassy on Monday.

For now, I will sit under a palm tree and wait.
        Thanks for asking.

      2. Thank you again for sharing your interpretation, Drew. It’s beautiful and you are right on the money.
I am glad to hear everything is fine. Glad you decided to talk to the embassy.

“I will sit under a palm tree and wait.” My heart felt this. It rings like a beautiful poem. melancholy on an island?
Take good care of you Drew.

    1. Thank you my dearest Leonie. I am thrilled you think so. Sending you love and hugs.
      G.

    1. Aw… Timothy. I am glad you think so. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope you guys are having a great morning.

      1. I had to get out from under five kitties lying on me from head to toe this morning, as most mornings — having a pile of kitties on me is a great way to start the day. I hope you and Maya are having a wonderful Caturday morning?

      2. A pile of kitties! I made my mind. I am getting another kitty. I’ll have two. Perhaps three. I agree. It is a great way to start the day. Maya usually sleeps by me like a baby. She is fine. Thank you for asking. How is everyone? How are the owlets?

      3. The owlets are growing. I’ve only seen two so far. We saw 4 beavers last night and 6 beavers the night before last. The critters are coming out.

      4. How gorgeous. It’s that time of year. I saw 4 deers in my backyard last evening. A white egret was by the lake this morning. If you see the owlets say hello to them from me.

  2. I am covered in goosebumps, Gabriela. How true your words are of what mankind has done to this incredibly beautiful and pristine world. Perhaps just perhaps people all over the globe are sitting up taking notice how clean our air has become, how glorious it is to breathe fresh air, how birds are singing so loudly and are in such abundance and how there is a general peace despite the efforts of mainstream mania to continue to stir up fear. Your words describe so astutely how I feel about this world and the sadness that has been within my heart as I witness the continual destruction and disrespect of our earth. Perhaps …. perhaps the TIME has come that all who are transient visitors upon this Blue Globe know it is time to return Mother to Her deserved state of Being. Much love to you! xo

    1. Such a beautiful comment. You brought tears in my eyes. Your words speak the truth :
“Your words describe so astutely how I feel about this world and the sadness that has been within my heart as I witness the continual destruction and disrespect of our earth.”
and give us hope “perhaps the TIME has come that all who are transient visitors upon this Blue Globe know it is time to return Mother to Her deserved state of Being” I wish that so much too.

Thank you for being such a wonderful and talented person. Thank you for being YOU. Thank you for your wonderful comment.
      xoxoxoxo

      1. You are so very welcome, Gabriela. It takes a talented and Gifted person to be generous in turn to recognize in another the very same Gift she has been given, just in a different form. Keep loving this earth and keep shining your light for all to see. Together those of us who know “truth” shall shine our lights to push back the dark once and for all!! (((HUGS)))!! xo

      2. I am humbled by your beautiful words.
“Together those of us who know “truth” shall shine our lights to push back the dark once and for all!!” Amen.

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You humbled me beyond words. I am deeply grateful to you.
Sending you blessing and good wishes.
      Gabriela

  3. Quite a beautiful poem…really loved it Gabriela, the point counterpoint that you have created, in time to a waltz where sadness still has enough energy to dance, is superb. A masterful piece of writing…menudos versos tia! Esta me ha encantado,
Un fuerte abrazo mi querida amiga,
    F

    1. Good afternoon Francisco. I hope it is a good afternoon. Soon will be your time for a glass of wine.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words. I am humbled by each and one of you. Did I tell you lately that you are a great artist? I hope I did. If not I’m telling you now 🙂
      Muchas garcias.
Dos grandes abrazos y un beso.
      Both gloved. G.

      1. Well bona vesprada mi querida amiga! I hope it’s s lovely afternoon for you too! Yes soon wine time but first the 3k! Gotta earn it! Did I tell you lately you are an incredible writer and a most beautiful human being? I do now! Cuídate mucho,
        Dos besos para ti,
        F

      2. Great. I am glad you did the 3k. I could not do anything today because I overdone it yesterday and all my muscles hurt. It must be because of Boney M 🙂
“Gotta earn it!” I know. Why do we have to earn everything?
“Did I tell you lately you are an incredible writer and a most beautiful human being?” Oh, muchísimas gracias. Por favor dígame otra vez. Dos besos? Yay!
Si me das dos abrazos también te daré un beso 🙂

    1. Thank you so much sweetheart. It means the world to me you think so.
      Stay safe and inspired.
      Gabriela

  4. “her eyes, mad blue
on her cheeks two tears pantomime a waltz” this is so gorgeous. When a writer uses a child the prose is even more powerful, for what are we leaving our children? Such truth and sadness in this world of islands of plastic we live in today. What an amazingly beautiful way to pronounce a dislike about our world. As always such a delight to read beautiful Button. Have a blessed and safe weekend. Love 💕 honeybun

    1. Good morning honeybun. Thank you for the praise. It means a lot to me. “When a writer uses a child the prose is even more powerful” I did not think about but you are right.
As usually your words make my day Joni. I am so grateful to you for your support.
Have a lovely Saturday honeybun. Stay blessed. I hope the weather is great.

      1. Awww… your love must be deserved. I know that. I must have done something right. Thank you Bo.
        Love you back.

  5. Wish there were new and unique words of praise to heap upon the pile here since this certainly deserves them. But they have all been used! I loved it. It will be lingering on in my mind today. Thank you.

    1. My dearest Annette. Your lovely words brighten my morning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you a beautiful day/evening filled with love.
      Gabriela

    1. Indeed. Thank you for your comment Eric. I left a comment to your question on your blog. I think adding more is the way to go. My opinion.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
      Yours
      G.

      1. Eric, I left it on your site and on Go dog go cafe. It must be somewhere. However, I said that I like the way you want to repackage Sam and Erin’s story. You writing is beautiful. I love the excerpt on your blog. I think if you repackage is going to be a hit. My opinion 🙂

    1. Oh, Jen, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always be grateful for your wonderful support. It means the world to me.
Have a lovely rest of the day my dear.
      xoxo

    1. Thank you so much my dearest Kritika. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. Sending you lots of love ❤️

  6. Ahhh G, I had missed the notification for this. What a treat to find it now. I love the different ways this can be interpreted. It reminds me of the saying ‘we have made our bed, now we must lie in it’. I love how surreal the images are, and I think my heart skipped a beat with your line: “pianos have shut up”. I suspect you know why that particular line did that to me.

Yes, the state of our world…. withered roses and plasticine, but also the state of a love, a love that is always remembered.

    “send to you my love
a kiss and a forgotten dream
both gloved”

Sigh. Those closing lines are so beautiful.

    Happy weekend dearest G xoxoxo

    1. Thank you for being here and for commenting Rachel. I am so sorry I missed you last night, We could not chatted. That would have been great.
“and I think my heart skipped a beat with your line: “pianos have shut up” Yes, I do. I was thinking about you my beautiful Rachel when I wrote that line.
“Those closing lines are so beautiful.” Thank you so much.
Have a fabulous week and I will send you the songs of nightingales as soon as I catch them.
      Love and hugs
      G.

      1. Oh G, that touches my heart beyond measure that you had me in your mind when you were writing. I can’t tell you how special that is, nor how honoured it makes me feel. Thank you my beautiful and talented friend, you have certainly made my Monday morning.

It will be Sunday late afternoon for you. What do I wish to give you for this time of the week? I wish you to feel loved and happy. I will send you my love and hopefully you will feel it in a warm breeze or a patch of sunshine or even in a raindrop on the window. It will be there, rain or sunshine. Hope you’re having a beautiful weekend xoxox

      2. Rachel, the silenced voice of the piano is represented in my poem by you. In many aspects that is the way I see you. In a world in which friendship, love, and loyalty are betrayed and under attack every day, in a world in which words belie images and images belie words, in my soul, I see you at the piano playing. You are as beautiful as the morning sun. That brings tears in my eyes and joy in my heart.
Have a blessed morning and a blessed week Rachel. I got your love and the patch of sunshine from you. Those are really precious.
        Thank you so much sweetheart.
        xoxoxo

      3. Sweetheart…
You have me in tears. This is so beautiful. If I can play the piano in your soul… where else would I even need to play it?

I would play for you, a sonata, a nocturne, a concerto. I will practice my scales and arpeggios. I will play all my favourite pieces there. I will be happy, because you gave me this gift. You made my dream come true. You touched my heart and opened the lid of the piano..

You have no idea what this means to me. You are a wonderful friend, I love and treasure you.

Thank you honey. I can’t even express it enough.
I’m glad you got my patch of sunshine, I hope it was filled with birdsong too xoxoxo

      4. Open the piano Rachel. Touch its keys. Let yourself play. I will hear you. Heal the sick with your song. Make the flowers bloom in autumn. Make all of us better. Only angels can help us. You are one of them.
Play sweetheart. I will be there listening to you.
You are a wonderful friend too. I love you and I treasure you. And I mean every word I write.
Yes, the birdsong is here too!
        Enjoy your day,
        xoxoxo

      5. For you, I will play a piece one handed in two parts. I know you will hear them in your soul overlaid together, exactly as I intend them.

Thank you again my dear friend. It is you who are an angel, it really is.

Have a wonderful day. I send you this:

  7. “a window thinks it is alive and tries to dance”

“on her cheeks two tears pantomime a waltz”

So so beautiful dear Gabriela! I am at a loss for words. Just loved it😍❤❤

  8. “withered roses and plasticine . . . a kiss and a forgotten dream both gloved”
My favorite lines from within this piece! They tell stories all on their own.

  9. Such a beautiful, melancholic piece, Gabriela! A reflection of the times we live in. Your opening lines and the closing ones are so touchingly gorgeous! Stay blessed, my dear. ❤️🌷

    1. I am so glad you liked the piece sweetheart. I tried to make it a reflection of our times. Your comment makes me think I succeed. Thank you 🙏🌺🤗
