trap me
in the rhythms of the Flamenco
whose sounds invade the nights of Southern Spain
to breathe the notes of the guitars which play
and fill the lustrous eyes with burning pain

trap me
in the Florence of my dreams
to walk with Leonardo in its streets
to cry with the Madonna and to verse in Greek
when the last word of Christ forever speaks

  3. Great verse. I now need to read the entire poem. The interesting thing for me, is that I have never been a huge poetry fan. It may just be that I am older now. But having walked in the streets of Florence and seeing the works of Michael Angelo, this poem really touches home.

  16. “to cry with the Madonna and to verse in Greek when the last word of Christ forever speaks” really beautiful as always beautiful Button. The imagery as always takes us on a lovely journey. I particularly love the last lines printed in this poem, until your book is available (we only have to wait two more days to order) and we can read the rest. Reminding us that God will be a forever presence in our lives. Lovely and just so vivid Button. I hope that you are celebrating your published work and staying safe but enjoying yourself.       2. My pleasure Joni and thank you again. Thank you for looking at the numbers. The book actually did much better. The publisher listed it on Amazon under Love poems: where it belongs. But for some unknown reason Amazon placed in a sub-category called “erotic poems.” I hit the roof. The publisher had to talk to an Amazon agent. The agent could not tell why it was placed there. There was an automatic placement in that sub-category. So in order to protect the book the publisher took it out from “love poems” and listed it under “general themes”. But we are still doing pretty good, although it does belong under love poems. So, yes I am happy.

        “Monday we can order our book. We are both excited.” Joni, I can’t tell you how much it means for me. Actually I can. It means the world to me. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

      3. I wondered about that when we first checked. However you should be able to have at least three categories I believe. Anyway we were thrilled to see how well it is doing. I bet you could offer signed ones for even more on amazon. I don’t know how that would work but they are in business to make money and so they probably would have a way. My gut tells me your heart is on a blessed vacation without leaving your home. I hope I am right and you are celebrating this amazing accomplishment with someone special. Love you 😘 J (honeybun)

The end of the semester is near and there is a lot of work: grading of final projects; research for summer, plenty of other stuff. My students need me. This time of year is very demanding.
