My poem “The train to Vienna” published by Spillwords Press and Easter wishes #poetry #wishes

let’s take the train and go to Vienna
rent a room for a night and then waltz
in your arms the waist of the night trembles
fingertips touch a blue door which is locked
I sit barefoot on the floor
the windows’ eyelashes are yellow and drunk
your voice moves stones in a lonely graveyard
to bury the tears I cry
and lonely like children of war
we cut…

Tomorrow in the U.S. most people will celebrate Easter. From the bottom of my heart to those of you who are Western Orthodox, “Happy Easter! Christ is risen!” To those of you who are Eastern Orthodox, “Happy Palm Sunday!” To those of you who are not Christians may you have a thousand years of happiness. May we all live in peace. Do not listen to false prophets. Do know listen to those who in sweet voices lecture you and claim they know better. Let your heart be filled with love. Read, write, paint, dance, sing, work the land, do what you have to do but remember to think for yourself. Only then we all will be fine.

Happy Easter. Buona Pasqua. Feliz Pascua. Joyeuses Pâques.

Yours

Gabriela

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Happy Easter to you too sweetheart. Much love.
      Gabriela

  1. Happy Easter, Gabriela! I have in my fridge a scotch egg (a boiled egg covered in sausage meat). Does that count as an Easter egg I wonder?! You are right about the importance of people thinking for themselves. At this time of the Corona Virus, there are a lot of false profits or, to put it less diplomatically, liars peddling false cures and avoidance strategies for COVID19. All the best, Kevin

    1. Happy Easter Kevin. A scotch egg? Absolutely.
May you have a year filled with health, creativity and blessings.
      Gabriela.

      1. Aw.. thank you. I have been eating chocolate the entire night.

  2. Lovely poem where I see images of Viennese waltz swaying to the rocking rhythm of the train rolling along its tracks, only to be saddened by tears as I came to the end of the journey.

Happy Easter. Give Maya lots of love for me.

    1. Thank you so much for reading the poem Timothy. It means the world to me. Maya says thank you for the wishes.
Happy Easter to the entire household. Stay blessed. Send the kitties a kiss from me.
      xoxo

    1. Thank you for leaving love with me Brad. It’s such a wonderful present. Happy Easter! Stay happy, loved, productive. Take care of the motorcycle.

  4. Beautiful poem, Gabriela. I love your imagery and the way it blends into an essence of emotion and experience. No wonder Spillwords picked it up. And a wonderful message of love and peace for the weekend. <3

    1. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Diana. I am so glad you liked my poem and my message. Have a beautiful and peaceful weekend.
Sending you plenty of love and hugs.

  5. Good morning G,

    I hope I haven’t missed the train.

Like the image you illustrated, I was transported to a different age. Europe in the mid to late thirties, when love still reigned and hate was just a swastiska away. On a different note; did you know the swastika meant “good fortune” in many ancient cultures, until Hitler stole it away.

Back to your train to Vienna. A magical waltz, a couple drunk in love, where she ends up drunk barfoot on the floor while he buries the tears that she cries. This entire passage read like a photograph from a time traveling camera that forever froze this moment in time, a moment of love and magic.

    Congrats.

Mademoiselle G, if I were there I would kiss you on each cheek, and whisper, “Magnifique.”

    1. Good morning Drew.
I saw the other comment and it worried me. I will reply there. I hope you are well now.
“Like the image you illustrated, I was transported to a different age. Europe in the mid to late thirties,” I feel the same when I look at the image. I did not necessarily think at the swastiska. Now that you are saying … there is a feel of that in the image. Yes, I knew. It is a Sanskrit word. It means auspicious or something like that. It has a connection to the old Aryan culture (to my recollection the symbol originate in India). Hitler made a connection with it via Nietzsche’s writings (I believe) which at certain point became associated with fascism.

Oh, I am glad you like the waltz. Reads like a photograph for you. That makes me really happy. Thank you very much.
Merci beaucoup pour les félicitations mon cher ami 🙂
      Bisous.
      G

      1. Haha! I know you don’t speak French. You started writing in French 🙂

      2. Exactly. You started it and then you decided to blame me 🙂
Have a magnificent rest of the day Drew.

    2. Hey dew!!your thought are right on swastiska which means good fortune.here in India,in every religious works,Swastiska is used.

  9. Gabriela… this poem is yet another example of the magnificence and magic of you. I want to take the train, dance the waltz, and let the beauty and emotion of the scene unfold in my dreams.
“in your arms the waist of the night trembles”

“we cut in two the same pain for one night”

Yes G, you are the waltz. I love the theme of pain being cut in two by being shared. You conjure passion and soul mates and pain in your writing. It is just so beautiful, every single time.

Wonderful. And I’m wishing you love and happiness and a little bit of magic this Easter xoxoxox

    1. Thank you so much my beautiful Rachel. You are a gem. I am trilled you liked the poem.
“G, you are the waltz” Am I? Then let’s waltz together like two little girls in an empty ballroom and tell each other secrets 🙂

      Love, hugs, flowers.
Are there any cross buns left? 🙂

I did have a lovely Easter dear G. And I hope you did too. Definitely no hot cross buns left, I sent the last ones to you.

  11. How did I miss this, I just honestly don’t know. This was definitely a five star poem and I hope everyone who reads this beautiful work remembers to vote. All your work is so remarkable, thought provoking and full of such emotion that one sometimes is drawn to weep. This work certainly made me weep. The sense of both love and lost is so profound in this poem that towards the end, everything around me sort of dissolved. That takes an immense gift and superb writing. Beautiful Button. Thank you also for the lovely message at the end of this poem, just incredibly true. Joni (honeybun)

    1. My dearest Joni(honeybun). You are wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your gorgeous words. They are more beautiful than my poem.
