between the sacred and profane #poem #poetry #amwriting

the laughter of the symbolists
morbid
disoriented cries of birds
I pantomime seduction just for you
a naked shoulder, flowers, glossy lips
the lace of stockings lower than it should
I rip the left side of your shirt
you devour me with silver spoons
our love, twin-bladed axe between the sacred and profane
stolen from the forehead of a legendary ox
the promise of tomorrow
the promise that weโ€™ll meet
shadows of a painting signed Dali
both of us
children of the same insanity

  4. Button this is a piece full of sensuous yearning which I absolutely adore. “I pantomime seduction just for you
a naked shoulder, flowers, glossy lips
the lace of stockings lower than it should
I rip the left side of your shirt
you devour me with silver spoons
our love, twin-bladed axe between the sacred and profane” so smooth your words, a love that was within the acceptable norms yet also reached a bit beyond comfort. Sounds like a youthful love described so deliciously. I particularly like the lace being a little too low. By the way the picture you chose to represent your words is so spot on. Hope you are having a relaxing day doing even more writing. Love you Button, Joni

    1. I am so glad you liked the poem my dearest Joni. Yes, I am a little playful here ๐Ÿ˜‰ I did not think it sounded like a youthful love but now after you said it I see it. It really does. Young girls getting ready to flirt or something like that. I love your interpretation. You are great Joni.
I am also thrilled you like the picture. The artist is great. I love his work.
I don’t know about relaxing but I certainly enjoy the green around the house: fresh and humid.
      Love
      G.

      1. Yes great work. I saw youth and mature love in your words perhaps I was projecting a bit remembering when I was younger and more daring then I really felt comfortable with but did anyway. I think the line about the lace really reminded me of youth. Enjoy your day and the green around your home. Hugs Joni ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

      2. ” I think the line about the lace really reminded me of youth. ” Yes, it sounds very youthful. Thank you for the praise and the kind wishes honeybun. Enjoy your day too.

    1. Jay, thank you so much for your comment. It means a lot. The lines you selected carry a lot of symbolism and I am so glad you liked them.
Thank you again and please stay safe
      Gabriela

  5. I love the sweet slow seduction, for now, we are content to gaze at the same moon and sigh under the same sun, the promise of reuniting is bittersweet in your poetic words, so beautiful.

    1. My Dearest Gina, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. It warms my soul. It’s a blessing. It’s so poetic “to gaze at the same moon and sigh under the same sun,” You blessed me with your words. Thank you so much.
      Have a beautiful day sweetheart.
      xoxo

  6. Oh. My. Amazing!!! Be still my beating heart, I did not want this poem to end, write more dear G. Encore encore encore.

โ€œour love, twin-bladed axe between the sacred and profaneโ€

A love that is complete, all of it. I want it. I want to be carried away in the arms of this poem.

Sigh, how do you do this to me dear friend. You are amazing.

Sending you whatever you need to keep writing. Please tell me and be as specific as you want, itโ€™s yours.

    Xoxoxo

    1. Oh, my fabulous Rachel. Thank you so much for being here sweetheart. I did not know why I couldn’t sleep. I did not have your beautiful words. Now I got them and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so glad you liked that line: because that is The line.
“Sending you whatever you need” Let’s see.
      1. I need you to be well and to make sure you get plenty of rest.
      2. I need to read more poetry from you. The tulips will run out of whispers if you don’t write again .. soon..
      3. Can I get back that guy – you know the one with the suit? I have no idea what I’ve done with him. Do you? ๐Ÿ™‚

You are amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful comment.
      What can I get you?

      1. Sweetheart.
        1. You are not sleeping? Then that is my first request. That after you read this, you slip into a deep sleep filled with dreams that inspire your poetry, that is just what I need.
        2. I will do what I can, I have something I need to finish but i keep being distracted. Plus, it has a โ€˜coronavirusโ€™ theme, and Iโ€™m not sure if people want to read this right now.
        3. The guy. I looked for him on the beach this morning. Maybe heโ€™s still drying himself off. Iโ€™ll keep looking though, never know when he might appear. Iโ€™m prepared to persevere
        4. I need flour. I like to make my own bread but I cannot source flour right now. And chocolate actually, I ran out. Most importantly, I need your poetry. Indulging in your favourite things is important right now, donโ€™t you think?

A little demanding, sorry. I send you lots of love to try and make up for it xoxoxo

      2. 1. I will try
        2. “Plus, it has a โ€˜coronavirusโ€™ theme, and Iโ€™m not sure if people want to read this right now.” Yes, most people do. This is what I think. So, my fabulous Rachel please finish.
        3. “Maybe heโ€™s still drying himself off.” Haha! I can’t stop laughing. Is he is still drying himself I don’t need him.
        4. I am coming with the flour right away. We’ll make bread together. We can bake cookies too. And chat the entire night like two little girls.
“A little demanding, sorry” Not at all. I use to love to bake in the night and chat with mama. It’s fun: night; the smell coming from the oven, sometimes I could hear the rain… I used to bake in the night and listen to the ocean.
We need a baking date. how beutiful that will be.
        xoxoxo

      3. 1. This makes me happy
        2. My turn to say Iโ€™ll try
        3. I canโ€™t stop laughing either. Heโ€™s probably still sulking that you bought him a suit. He does seem to take a long time to get dry and I agree, if thatโ€™s the case, Iโ€™m not looking for him at the beach anymore.
        4. I canโ€™t describe the feeling this gives me. A rainy night, the smell of baking, the warmth of love. โ€œI used to bake in the night and listen to the ocean.โ€ Thank you for sharing this memory with me. We need this baking date. Iโ€™ll do my best with the flour.

Youโ€™ve made my evening G xxooxx

      4. You made my night Rachel. Thank you for being you. Have a wonderful evening sweetheart.

      6. And, yes, that is THE line. It really is. Iโ€™m just going to place it here again because I could not love it more and it is truly magnificent.
โ€œour love, twin-bladed axe between the sacred and profaneโ€.

Did I mention I love that?

      7. Even if you didn’t My heart knows it.
        Thank you so much, Rachel,
Take good care of you sweetheart.
        xoxo
