please find another lover
I’m riding camels with the Bedouins
I’ll enter Alexandria by morning
the day Mark Anthony committed suicide

don’t wait for me
please find another lover
I’m in the Île de la Cité on Friday the thirteenth
the Friday which forever will be feared
the smell of burning flesh is choking me
the Knights Templar are shedding tears

don’t write to me
until I’ll write to you again
lonely sunsets murmur in brown fumes
and in the night before His resurrection
like Mary Magdalene
I’m looking for a tomb

  11. I love the form and flow of the poem, and as always, your beautiful wording. But it is the subtle historical references that for me elevates this beyond mere verse and makes it more an epic tale. So well written! You are still my heroine! Much love! ❤

    1. Brad, thank you so much for your beautiful comment. It fills my heart with joy. I am glad that you think the historical references elevate the poem. I was strongly advised not to use any Western esoteric/ semiotic thought in my writings. Look what happened to Umberto Eco one of my friends said. I asked: What happened to Umberto Eco? According to my friend Umberto Eco did not achieve the fame he deserved because he did just that. Well – I answered- I will never achieve Umberto Eco’s fame therefore I can use historical references and semiotic/esoteric thought.
      I wrote all this because I want to let you know that your comment means the world to me. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I am in debt to you in a way we will never know.

    So what add-on gizmo hides who made the like ? Also same with the spam blocker gizmo? I like the professional image those make for a blog, even if I don’t need them yet……… Also what was your “go to Authors” name? I still want to try one of his books from the Library at Archive

      I don’t know what is an add-on gizmo. It sounds like something from Verizon 🙂 I use Akismet for spam.

  25. So much in this poem, so much of beauty, so much bad luck, wrong place, wrong time. It hurts my heart, the message of ‘stay away from me, or suffer doom’ (my interpretation anyway), and the final stanza

    “don’t write to me
until I’ll write to you again
lonely sunsets murmur in brown fumes
and in the night before His resurrection
like Mary Magdalene
I’m looking for a tomb.”

    This sent a chill down my spine. Yet another poem of such magnificence.

      1. My Sunday, was busy. I took 3 children to a candy store. It is beautiful to see it through their eyes, we wandered up and down the store endlessly. It’s a big decision. In a stroke of genius I also managed to get my car cleaned in return. Then I faced the madness of the supermarket. A level of mania that made the air itself nearly diagnosable.

        How was your Sunday, my gorgeous friend? 🍭❤️

      2. WOW. Three children in a candy store. I almost can visualize the scene.
        “It is beautiful to see it through their eyes, we wandered up and down the store endlessly” You know I have never thought of seeing a candy store through a child eyes. That’s so wonderful Rachel. Thank you for opening a marvelous universe in my heart.
        “In a stroke of genius I also managed to get my car cleaned in return.” I did not get that stroke yet. I have too 🙂

        Sunday? It was good. I went to the market – facing the same thing – and then I rested.

  26. Oh, to tap the mind of the genius who penned this epic. This had a different feel to it I can’t describe, but at the same time, it was so G. You take words, life. emotions, and history and make it yours. You completely own it. With power and precision.
