Friday the thirteenth #poem #poetry

don’t wait for me
please find another lover
I’m riding camels with the Bedouins
I’ll enter Alexandria by morning
the day Mark Anthony committed suicide

don’t wait for me
please find another lover
I’m in the Île de la Cité on Friday the thirteenth
the Friday which forever will be feared
the smell of burning flesh is choking me
the Knights Templar are shedding tears

don’t write to me
until I’ll write to you again
lonely sunsets murmur in brown fumes
and in the night before His resurrection
like Mary Magdalene
I’m looking for a tomb

  1. “I’m riding camels with the Bedouins
I’ll enter Alexandria by morning
the day Mark Anthony committed suicide”. Your words are beautifully descriptive. What a lovely poem to start my Friday morning. I love this piece. Have an amazing weekend beautiful button. Love, hugs and kisses. 😘😘Joni

You have a lovely Friday morning and a good weekend too, sweetheart
      Hugs.

      1. You made me intrigued. . . and kind of afraid. . . thanks for the reminder it’s Friday the 13th!

      2. Intrigued is good 😉 Afraid? Nothing to be afraid about. It’s just a legend or perhaps is not. Haha. Have a fabulous Friday, Joey. And a fabulous weekend too.
        G.

    1. Oh, my most sincere thanks Luci. I am humbled by your words. I hope your Friday is going well 🙂

    1. Is it your luck number? How cool.
Thank you for being so generous Bo.
You guys have a splendid weekend.

  2. I love the form and flow of the poem, and as always, your beautiful wording. But it is the subtle historical references that for me elevates this beyond mere verse and makes it more an epic tale. So well written! You are still my heroine! Much love! ❤

    1. Brad, thank you so much for your beautiful comment. It fills my heart with joy. I am glad that you think the historical references elevate the poem. I was strongly advised not to use any Western esoteric/ semiotic thought in my writings. Look what happened to Umberto Eco one of my friends said. I asked: What happened to Umberto Eco? According to my friend Umberto Eco did not achieve the fame he deserved because he did just that. Well – I answered- I will never achieve Umberto Eco’s fame therefore I can use historical references and semiotic/esoteric thought.
I wrote all this because I want to let you know that your comment means the world to me. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I am in debt to you in a way we will never know.
      Gabriela

      1. Maybe Umberto was not the poet he had hoped he was. You continue to do you, because it always seems to turn out so beautifully when you do!

    1. E… I write… you write… G.
Eric, I want to do a post to feature your upcoming book. Are you ok with being my guest? If yes, can you send me the cover and what you want me to say? I can’t reblog. I lost my reblog button. I will link to your site.

  4. So hey Gabriela, when your not busy and have a minute to answer these questions. If you can answer on my blog also and no need to publish this as it’s just personal interest stuff and not for everybody….
(To bad this place has no private messenger service. )
So what add-on gizmo hides who made the like ? Also same with the spam blocker gizmo? I like the professional image those make for a blog, even if I don’t need them yet……… Also what was your “go to Authors” name? I still want to try one of his books from the Library at Archive

    1. Hey Al.
I don’t know what is an add-on gizmo. It sounds like something from Verizon 🙂 I use Akismet for spam.
Thank you for your desire to read one of my novels, but Al they are not written in English. English is not my native language. However, my first poetry collection is coming out soon and it will be in English!
Have a wonderful weekend. I am grateful for your friendship Al. Please know that.
      Gabriela

    1. I thought I’ll make it interesting 🙂 Yet it depends on what people are interested in 🙂
Que tengas una buena noche, Francisco. Muchas gracias.
      Gabriela

  5. So much in this poem, so much of beauty, so much bad luck, wrong place, wrong time. It hurts my heart, the message of ‘stay away from me, or suffer doom’ (my interpretation anyway), and the final stanza

    “don’t write to me
until I’ll write to you again
lonely sunsets murmur in brown fumes
and in the night before His resurrection
like Mary Magdalene
I’m looking for a tomb.”

This sent a chill down my spine. Yet another poem of such magnificence.

Hugs and love dear G. WhT will you do on your Sunday? Xoxox

    1. Rachel, “Yet another poem of such magnificence.” Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the praise. And thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. It means a lot to me sweetheart.
Hugs and love to you. Sunday just started for me. How was yours?

      1. My Sunday, was busy. I took 3 children to a candy store. It is beautiful to see it through their eyes, we wandered up and down the store endlessly. It’s a big decision. In a stroke of genius I also managed to get my car cleaned in return. Then I faced the madness of the supermarket. A level of mania that made the air itself nearly diagnosable.

How was your Sunday, my gorgeous friend? 🍭❤️

      2. WOW. Three children in a candy store. I almost can visualize the scene.
“It is beautiful to see it through their eyes, we wandered up and down the store endlessly” You know I have never thought of seeing a candy store through a child eyes. That’s so wonderful Rachel. Thank you for opening a marvelous universe in my heart.
“In a stroke of genius I also managed to get my car cleaned in return.” I did not get that stroke yet. I have too 🙂
“Then I faced the madness of the supermarket. A level of mania that made the air itself nearly diagnosable.” I know. People are scared.
Sunday? It was good. I went to the market – facing the same thing – and then I rested.

Sending you plenty of love my fabulous Rachel.
        xoxoxoxo

      3. Well, your Sunday included rest, so now you have made my Tuesday. I hope you are keeping well sweetheart.

You should try the candy and car cleaning link. It’s well worth it.

Sending you a whole lot of love xoxox

      4. Oh, you are sweet Rachel. I will try the cleaning without the candy 🤗💕💕🎋🌷

  6. Oh, to tap the mind of the genius who penned this epic. This had a different feel to it I can’t describe, but at the same time, it was so G. You take words, life. emotions, and history and make it yours. You completely own it. With power and precision.
    Marvelous pioece of writing.

    1. You are pouring compliments and kindness on my soul today. I am glad you thing its a powerful piece.
      muchas gracias, Drew 🙂
