the train to Vienna #love poem #poetry

let’s take the train and go to Vienna
rent a room for a night and then waltz
in your arms the waist of the night trembles
fingertips touch a blue door which is locked
I sit barefoot on the floor
the windows’ eyelashes are yellow and drunk
your voice moves stones in a lonely graveyard
to bury the tears I cry
and lonely like children of war
we cut in two the same pain for one night
you, the kiss of the love that could be
I, the rhythm of three beats in each bar
in Prater Park they sell lollipops
years pass by in one night
I rest my head on your shoulder
and the train to Vienna has stopped

    1. Thank you so much for your interpretation, Kevin. Or perhaps it never got to Vienna and nothing happened.
Thank you again. Have a lovely rest of the day
      G.

  1. Great imagery and metaphor. I enjoy that the work ends in a way that allows the reader to interpret the meaning of the train coming to rest. I saw it more as the need to travel anywhere else was no longer needed, or maybe more accurately, not wanted. Another provocative and colorful piece. You are my Shero!

    1. Oh, Brad, what would I do without your kindness? You made my mornings brighter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interpretations. I like both.
      Have a wonderful Tuesday.
      Gabriela

  2. we cut in two the same pain for one night – love this line with all my heart. a train. lollipops and Vienna, magical and dreamy – a love that had just one night to be…sigh

      You in Florida?

    1. Thank you so much sweetheart. Bo will meet us in Vienna if we go. Are you in? 😊
I hope everything is well with you. Have a beautiful evening my dear.

  3. Cut the pain in two for one night — that was my favourite line too

I was pleasantly surprised by the start. I am working on a poem about taking a ship to Venice. Great minds think alike!

    1. Thank you so much, B. I am glad you liked that line.

“I am working on a poem about taking a ship to Venice.” I am sure the poem will be splendid. Looking forward to reading it. Can I come along? 🙂
“Great minds think alike!” They do, don’t they?
      xoxoxo

      1. You are already there! I just read your fantastic Glass Lover’s piece.

I promise you will read mine when it’s ready.

        They do, more rhan once!

      2. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to read yours.
        Sending you plenty of love.

  4. This poem is music to my ears…”you, the kiss of the love that could be
I, the rhythm of three beats in each bar…” a Viennese waltz danced by two who, “lonely like children of war…cut in two the same pain for one night.” Tender yet powerful…you write such beautiful scenes, set to music, unseen and unheard, but as real as a room for a night in Vienna and a waltz in your arms…and two lovers, who bury the tears of the past in a graveyard and dance…
Eres una verdadera artista y una mujer llena de amor y sensualidad que sabe tejer en el espacio las mas profundas verdades y las emociones que le dan a la vida su razon de ser…(I think I can express some things better in Spanish)
    Enhorabuena,
    abrazos de Valencia,
    Francisco

      2. Good morning Francisco,
I do not know if I am very special, but I know you are so kind and so good to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“Yes, a lovely 😊 morning in Valencia!” That must have been yesterday. I am glad you had such a wonderful morning. Oh, I love this: “I can truly enjoy 😊 breakfast in my favourite bar in Valencia.” That sounds fabulous. What was for breakfast? I really love breakfast provided that it is not served before noon. I don’t trust myself in the morning. Mornings are for me just a continuation of my nights’ dream.
Hasta mañana, mi amigo. Que tengas un buen día.
        Gabriela

      3. Mil gracias 😊 mi amiga…here we don’t eat breakfast too much because we have almuerzo at around 10,30 hours…yes, I know that our schedules here in Spain are so different from most of the rest of the world…and after reading your most powerful, passionate and beautiful thoughts, I know you are special,
        Abrazos,
        F.

      4. Hi Francisco,
Thank you so much for your reply and your kind words. I hope you’re having a splendid weekend filled with sun and joy. Oh, almuerzo is fantastic.
I can have that at noon, can’t I? But if I do it I may have a serious problem because there are two things that really put me to sleep: the ocean and the lunch. Haha!
I wish you a fantastic late afternoon.
        feliz dia
        Gabriela

      6. “a street party/parade of all our crazy, fun loving valencianos!” Wonderful. Enjoy it!!!!
I my other reply I meant to write I look forward to “receiving” the picture. Sorry, for my bad English. I can’t seem to do anything right today. And there is no party going on here.
        Abrazos
        G.

  5. this is truly magical. brilliant use of language. you’re a very talented poet Gabriela

  6. Wow Gabriela are these last two pieces part of one of your published books? I just love the sense of longing these two poems make me feel and a sort of descriptive beauty one might be feeling while thinking of a loss as well. Amazing as always. Love 💕 Joni

    1. Hi Joni,
Thank you for asking. No, those are new. I am going to work on them, and probably submit one to a journal.
Your description of my work always leave me speechless. You are so perceptive and so talented, Joni. I am grateful I met you my dear.
      xoxo

      1. Oh I just love them both so much. I would submit them both they are truly inspiring works and so beautifully written. I am imagining that you did a lot of traveling at one time. I am so thankful to have met you also my sweet friend. Have an amazing day. Love 💕 Joni

      2. Thank you sweetheart for your kindness and for your encouragement. Yes, I did a lot of travelling and I still do during summers. And hon, I was not born in the US 🙂
I hope you had a great Valentine.
Love and hugs to you, Joni
        xoxo

      3. Oh sweet friend I never thought you were born in the US. The fire and passion in your lines give that away. Your writings with references to Spain and other places tell me you have the spirit of some of the fabulous Europeans I met when I traveled around Spain. I feel in love with Madrid and it’s beautiful people. Your descriptive phrases in your poetry give that away. Also you look European to me. My mom would say, if she were alive, “Boy that young beauty is as cute as a button.” Southern phrase but definitely a big compliment. Your as beautiful as your phrases. Love you sweet friend. 💖Joni

      4. Oh, sweetheart, your beautiful words really touched my heart. Many blessings and plenty of love, hon.
“My mom would say, if she were alive,” Thank you so much for this, Joni. You talking about your mom means a lot to me.
“cute as a button” Now, we say that down here too 🙂
May your nights be magical….may your every morning be blessed.
        xoxo
        Gabriela

      5. Thank you my sweet friend I have been so blessed by you. Grateful for your kind words as always and tickled you have heard that expression. I hope you bless this newer magazine with one of your beautiful poems as well. They are so great to work with and I know they would love to have a piece from you. Blessings Love you 💕 Joni

      6. My pleasure, Joni. Thank you for every word.. I will take a look at the magazine this week. I love to work with good people. I really do.
        Have a wonderful Sunday
        🌸🌺🌺🤗
