fears of death #poem #poetry

ah, I forgot to tell you when I meet you in my dreams
Arabella still sells bracelets in the silver market
she asks me every time about you
I lie and promise her you’ll come next time
to buy another bracelet and some juicy limes

now in the silence of long purple nights
my silver bracelets cannot hurt you anymore
but every minute you are not with me
cuts yet another wound into my soul

fragment from the poem Fears of Death

    1. Thank you so much Gina. I am thrilled to hear the word “magic”. You know I find your writings mesmerizing. It makes me happy you liked this piece. Sending you love and hugs.

    1. Eric, thank you so much. I am glad it mesmerized you. It means a lot to me that you are here (so to speak) .
Well, you guys are officially out of the EU. You must be happy.
      Have a beautiful weekend.

      1. Yes, I know, it’s been too long. You are going to join again. I didn’t say it 🙂 I’ll behave. I promise. I am glad you are relieved.
Thank you so much for reading me, Eric.

      2. Yes, it has to reform. They are working in Brussels on that.
“still we can always put our trust in our leaders – nope me neither!” My first tendency is to cry. But that is not going to solve anything.
        Tea time?

  1. So beautiful Gabriela! I particularly love the beginning and the imagery of the bracelets and how they are used in this piece. Have a blessed weekend. Love 💕 Joni

    1. Thank you so much, sweetheart. I am happy you liked that imagery. Have a blessed weekend.

    1. And so are yours Brad. So are yours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of your words.

    1. Thank you! Thank you! I actually can’t thank you enough for your support.
      Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely words, David. As you know they mean a lot to me. I hope everything is well with you.
      Wishing you a fabulous weekend.

  2. Beautiful and with such images that you have created…the purple night…you are truly a gifted writer with imagination, with tenderness and strength and with words that reach into the soul, some cut, some caress but all touch parts of me and let me see the creative soul that writes such lovely words…

    1. Thank you so much, Francisco. Your comment touches me deeply. I am glad you liked the purple night. Now when I write I wonder how a painting called “the purple night” would look. I know I am talking to a great painter and a great poet so I thought I may get an answer.
“Tenderness and strength.” I would like to think so.
“all touch parts of me and let me see the creative soul that writes such lovely words…” I am speechless. Muchas gracias, Franmcisco.

      1. “The Purple Night” is a great idea for a painting and a definite thought…you will see it soon, I see it as an abstract, it’s now floating around in my head…yes, Gabriela, your words are beautiful and very meaningful and reach deep and touch my soul. Enjoy the weekend! In Valencia it is hot 🥵 sunny ☀️ and 25!

      2. Hi Francisco.
“you will see it soon, I see it as an abstract, it’s now floating around in my head” I am so flattered. W0W. I can’t wait for you to make it happen. When do I get to see “the purple night” by Francisco Bravo Cabrera?

I visited your blog late last night. I saw your videos Valencia – gorgeous- and the one on Ataturk which is greatly done. Sadly, the political developments in Turkey point strongly in another direction. Probably the spirit of the time. Zeitgeist. No consolation in that.

I also left comments on your poems but…
I chatted with WP. They cannot speak with me about your site. I knew that. They told me to tell you to contact them. I find that strange because my comments not yours are not getting to your site. One would think that the problem would be with my site not yours. But that is what they told me.
Anyway, I hope you had a lovely Saturday in Valencia.
P.S. going back to your site right now to see if I can leave any comments at least to one of your most recent poems which I really love.

      3. Hello Gabriela and it’s great hearing from you. This weekend Mother Nature has brought summer to Valencia, well to all of Spain, and I spent Saturday at the beach! It was full of people. I love this city more and more every day! Thank you! And I’m so glad you liked the short video clips. I greatly admire Ataturk but I agree, the current situation in Turkey is the exact opposite and I hope it changes soon as it is a country that I love to visit…I will check with WP reference the comments but the comments are turned on in my site…anyways it’s a pleasure reading everything you write and I hope you too have a lovely weekend! All the best and a great big abrazo from Spain.

      4. Summer in Valencia! Another title for a beautiful painting. Could be the title of a great book too. Movie? Francisco your joy and enthusiasm are contagious. This is how I feel which is very unusual for me when I get up in the morning.
Summer in Valencia! Spain, beach, love, people, summer no matter how one combines these words they are dynamite. I am so happy you are happy. Stay happy and have a beautiful summer afternoon in Valencia!
I enjoyed the video clips. The situation in Turkey is not going to change anytime soon. That’s my guess. But as I tourist you will be fine and able to enjoy. I will go back some day to see Ephesus again.
Thank you for the kind wishes. The abrazo is already here because I am smiling. I meant it. Your enthusiasm is contagious.

      5. Wow! So is yours! And I am very happy to receive it here in Mediterranean Spain! Yes, summer is a great time and a powerful, lovely and tremendous word…who knows, a book with such a title! Interesting idea and I like it! Well, the day is almost over (at least the sunshine) but the summer continues…hope where you are it is a lovely day as well…take good care and enjoy your Sunday!
        In gran abrazo de Valencia,

      6. I am glad you received everything.
A movie, not a book. I can see it.
“Interesting idea.” I am glad you “like it” too because to me the word “interesting” in English is generally noncommittal. It has a different feel to it compared with the same word in other languages.

You have a terrific week Francisco. Thank you for your support and your lovely words. Enjoy the beautiful summer.
“Summer in Valencia.” Only Hemingway can author a book with this title. Sadly, he’s not with us anymore.

      7. Sorry to hear that was chilly in the morning. I hope the sun shines now.
Yesterday I left comments on one poem and one painting on your blog. I gather you did not get them. I will try to repost tonight. I think I know what it’s going on. It has something to do with the level of protection I use on my computer. Last time when my comments registered I had to disable some features on my computer. If I am right it is very curious. If follows that my software protection protects you from my comments but it does nor protect me (so to speak) from yours.
If I do not hear from you it means you did not get the comments and I will try again tonight.
Enjoy the rest of your day

      8. Yes, the rest of the day did get rather warm and it is a warm afternoon…no, I did not receive anything and it is curious about how the computer protection works! In any event, I will check my settings to see as well. Take good care and enjoy your Monday!
        abrazos de Valencia,

      9. Good morning Francisco.
Again is morning in Valencia. I am glad you had a good afternoon. I hope this day will bring you more sunshine.
I am going to go to your site and try to post some comments again. When you have time please let me know if they get there. No pressure.

      10. D’acord! I will, yes a lovely morning and looking towards a hot 🥵 day! 26 degrees!!! Incredible for February, our coldest month! Thank you Gabriela I hope you enjoy your Tuesday, may it be lovely and creative! Muchos abrazos de Espanya

      11. Oh, I am glad it is going to be a splendid day for you. Enjoy it.
See, I found out how to get my comments to you. It is what I suspected even if I do not understand why.
Thank you for your kind wishes. Back at you including the abrazos.🌞🏊‍♀️🎸⛱🎼

      12. Great! I am so glad you were able to find out about the comments problem. Yes, it is hot today here! It is also rather unusual to have 26 degrees in February! Tomorrow the temps begin to go back down to normal…I don’t like the cold but I do like the four seasons…I hope you have a great day too, I guess it’s cold where you are…anyways, have a lovely day!
        Abrazos and Sunshine!

      13. Haha! I always find problems 🙂 I am not doing well when it comes to solutions 🙂 Actually I kind of do. Four seasons are nice. I am simple. I’ll take one season: summer. You can have the rest.
Actually it’s “warm” here. 60 Fahrenheit. Tomorrow will be another story.
        Abrazos, Francisco.

  3. So often, I love the way you begin your poems, they draw me in with an intimacy that pulls me into the poem, and holds me there spellbound and listening. This was such a perfect example of lines like that. The
“silence of long purple nights” after the dream was physically painful Gabriela, I read this over and over.

Happy Friday wonderful friend. Thank you for brightening my Saturday morning with your poetry xoxox

    1. Aw, my fabulous Rachel.. thank you so much for your comment. Your words sing one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
I am glad you enjoyed the piece.
Have a beautiful weekend and say hello to al Pacífico for me.
Sending you plenty of flowers and hugs.

  4. Beautiful poetry; if you help me understand the darker passages for me I would like to try again to build you a video montage with the new program that is professional.
Do you have any chance to record this work with your voice and pass it on ?? I’d like to create a new product

    1. Thank you so much for your wonderful offer, my dear. I can record myself but you will have to wait a couple days. When ready I will send you the recording.

    1. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. It’s a touching comment. I do not know what else to say but thank you once again.

    1. Thank you B. You really made me curious. How would you describe a Czech movie? What do you have in mind?

  5. Thank you for the link. It says she is a German-Austrian TV presenter. She not Czech. Name aside, I don’t see any link between her and my poem. Perhaps it’s just me. I don’t know.
    Have a great week ahead.
