deification of the virgin nymph
within my palms
the flesh of violet sunsets flips like fish on land
my eyes, inheritors of light
singular sinkholes punctuating a low sky
your love, eternal summer with no births or deaths
doors lock by themselves
into the secrets of that which will be
the danger of me
deeper than the darkest sea

    1. Aw.. thank you so much. my dear Gina. May you enjoy a scented lavender evening while watching a beautiful sunset.

  1. Good morning, G! What lovely diction you have in this piece. Wow. ๐Ÿ˜ I especially loved the line โ€œthe flesh of violet sunsets flips like fish on landโ€ because of the motion of the imagery and Iโ€™m a sucker for all things purple, including the sky. Thank you for sharing! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’•

      Almost weekend… ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi G! I’m so sorry I’ve been away for so long. I’ve missed reading your work. This piece is certainly a great one. The poem itself feels like a sea; it has a deceptively short surface appearance, but once one starts reading, one realizes how deep the lines are, with each new image presenting an opportunity for exploration. Those locking doors and dangerous secrets really have my imagination burning!

    1. Hi David!
So great to hear from you. No need to apologize. Your beautiful comment had me speechless for a few moments. Thank you from the bottom of my hear for your words. You analyses mean the world to me. I hope you know that.
“Those locking doors and dangerous secrets really have my imagination burning!” ๐Ÿ™‚ I am so grateful so this line. It made my evening.
On the other hand, when you have time I want to hear a bit about the conference you attended. I really hope you had a great time.

May you have a fabulous evening, and thank you once again!

      1. I’m happy and humbled that my words mean that much to you, since yours mean a lot to me as well. You’re welcome a thousand times over. The pleasure is mine.

I had a wonderful time at the conference. The panel I presented as part of was at 8 in the morning, so the audience was half asleep, which made my first time reading to strangers a little easier. To be honest, I spent more time exploring St. Louis than anything. Have you been to the city museum there? The building itself feels like a fantasy world.

I hope you have a fabulous evening as well. Talking to you has made mine.

      2. As it is mine ๐Ÿ™‚
I am glad you had a good time. That’s wonderful.
David, I hate conference panels that start at 8 am. The audience is always half-asleep or is not there. I usually I am half-asleep too ๐Ÿ™‚ That said, I am happy it was easier for you. What was your reading on?

I’ve never been to St.Louis. I am glad you enjoyed the museum. Now I know where to go.

      3. Thank you. I know what you mean! I’ll admit having to function that much at that time was interesting.

My reading was a selection of my flash fiction on the Jinn (flash fiction was the subject of the panel). I used a few pieces from my blog, plus some new ones. The specific posts I recycled were: Meanwhile, The Bottle Opens, Reentering the World, A Hidden Image, and The Traveler. I’m thinking of posting the completed sequence on my blog to fill the gap until I can sit down and craft something new, or I may add the new scenes as their own posts.

      4. Thank you for taking the time to write back. I was very curious about. Your writing is very beautiful so I am sure the audience enjoyed it.
One way or another it is a good idea to keep posting. Beautiful writings calls to be read, David. I am certainly looking forward to reading more ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you for taking the time to chat with me. I know it’s a busy time as the end of the semester gets closer and closer…

  5. Gorgeous”the flesh of violet sunsets……”beautiful intitiaion,dear G!!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน

    1. My most sincere thanks for your beautiful comment. I am glad you enjoyed that phrase ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Hello, my fabulous Rachel. Thank you for the incredible praise. I don’t deserve it. Yet it’s coming from you and that means a lot.
Sweetheart, I am trying to reply to comments and post something new for about a week. You know how things are on my side.
I want to know how are you? How are the the almost summer flowers? How is the ocean? Let’s make it about you.

      1. Gabriela, I would rather it be about you! โค๏ธ I know how busy you are though, and December is coming so I am hoping that means things will start to slow down. But probably not is my guess for you.
Summer flowers are in full bloom dear G, and they and the ocean are beautiful today, sparkling with sunshine, beckoning me to go outside when I should be doing my work. I have been struggling with time a little myself… I am renovating my house, have I ever told you that? It is taking forever and soaks so much of my spare time. Iโ€™m terrible with decisions so itโ€™s not easy for me!
I saw โ€˜Swan Lakeโ€™ on the weekend. It was so stunningly beautiful. I thought of you actually. Do you enjoy ballet?
So, there you go, I made it about me, just for you. But of course in my mind I am wondering about you, and hoping you are ok. You know that, right?

      2. Oh, sweetheart, I know you are busy too. Renovating you house? It’s funny because I must start renovating mine in mid-January. I am not terrible with decisions but as you said it is time consuming. Moreover, what I hate about renovations is that I feel like I can never be alone. I can’t focus therefore I can’t work. Renovations are invasions of privacy. That kills me but I have to do it.

Hang in there, Rachel. I am sure you will do a great job and the house will look beautiful.

“I thought of you actually. Do you enjoy ballet?” Oh, I love ballet more than opera and plays. I just love ballet. I am so glad you got the time to enjoy yourself.
“Summer flowers are in full bloom dear G, and they and the ocean are beautiful today, sparkling with sunshine, ” I want to be there! I really do.

Rachel, thank you so much for your beautiful words. I’ll keep them in my heart.
Thanksgiving is coming. and I am going to be twice busy. However, please know that I am deeply grateful for your friendship.

Good luck with the house and listen to the ocean my fabulous Rachel.

      3. As I am deeply grateful for yours dear G. Renovations…. yes, worth it in the end, thatโ€™s what I am telling myself too.

You are here in sun with me G. All we need are our imaginations for these things.

Wishing you so much love, peace and happiness xoxo xoxo
