    1. This is so intriguing. I love how you caught a lonesome energy, and you did it so we’ll! Great, great piece. One of my favorites from you.

    1. Thank you, Rob. Unfortunately sometimes there is violence too. But I am ok. Just listened to your beautiful song 🙂

    1. Thank you, Bojana. Unfortunately we do. We are “good citizens” i.e. we mind our own business when so many things go wrong around us.

    1. I, on the other hand, I can’t stop thinking. It’s hard not to. Thank you for reading and commenting.

  1. Your word choice for this is so unbelievably poignant and hard hitting “counting empty chairs” and “hunger games are heating up and your coffee’s getting cold”. While all around us in the world atrocities are happening, often right before our eyes….
Another favourite to add to my ever growing list.
    Xoxo

    1. And you are one of my best friends. Very grateful for your comment and friendship.

  2. The red nails and the (possibly) red lipstick speak to me of blood and death, which ties in well with the poem as a whole. Also the makeup and nail varnish symbolise to me sexuality/sex which, despite war is still a potent force. Indeed the reference to newborns also speaks of the continuing cycle of life and death. The ordinary continuing (in the bar) while the horror goes on outside. Great poem Gabriela.
