The ocean caught a glimpse of our past: love roots starting and ending in us.
In the distance, a white sail: the giant wing of a wounded albatross.
Red, blue, yellow giving to gold: the vastness of dead sands.
An insidious wave disturbed the effigy of loss.
You.

  2. I am reminded of “with my cross bow I shot the albatross”. I see in your poem something touching on the loss of innocence, as with the killing of the innocent bird, but interpretation is not really something at which I am particularly good. Best wishes – Kevin

  9. Sometimes it feels like the ocean sees everything, keeps history, secrets, holds us. Everything is on such a huge scale, so vast… as is the loss that is so heart wrenching in this poem. You have captured such depth of sadness in this. I love it.
