atrocities #poem #poetry

it rains atrocities on fields of love
predatory nights, barbed wire walls,
the silence of asphyxiated birds
funerals of human parts
the geopolitics of pain engulfs the maps
revulsion,
eyes intoxicate the shadows in your chambers of delight
I change the course
I walk on heated rocks
hurt, the sound of waves invades my mind
I sail my boat into the hearts of those who are misunderstood
pain, the first dimension, runs at the speed of light
space, the nothingness between your soul and mine,
mistress of the purple,
jacaranda hides its kisses inside the metaphor of us
a lily cries
I feed a child
with grains that grow within my palms
it rains the echoes of tomorrow
asphyxiated birds
barbed wire walls

    1. Yes, you read me well, Watt. Thank you very much for taking the time to read and comment.

    1. Aw.. thank you so much my dear. Your words mean a lot to me. Sending you hugs!

  1. Wow. Your diction comes alive in poems like today’s, G; that’s what I think makes your poetry so stellar. I especially loved this line: “jacaranda hides its kisses inside the metaphor of us.” Simply stunning. 💜💕🌸

    1. My dear K,
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. It really touches my heart. Such high praise!
Just finished reading your beautiful poem. An excellent piece.
Have a fantastic day, my dear!

      1. You deserve the high praise! I’ve been absent so much recently that I feel I may end up spoiling my friends with their excellent pieces with extra gushy nonsense from me. But please know it’s sincere. And thank YOU! Have a great rest of you day as well. ☺️💜

      2. Thank you again, K.
“I may end up spoiling my friends with their excellent pieces with extra gushy nonsense from me.” No way! Your comments and your work are beautiful! I am very glad you are back!

  2. piove atrocità sui campi dell’amore
notti predatori, pareti di filo spinato,
    il silenzio degli uccelli asfittici
    funerali di parti umane
la geopolitica del dolore inghiotte le mappe
    repulsione,
    uccelli asfittici
    pareti di filo spinato

    wonderful poem Gabriela

    1. Grazie di cuore, Flavio. I am so grateful and so humbled by your words and your gorgeous translation. Wow. It sounds so good in Italian.
May you have a beautiful afternoon.

      1. Can you imagine me trying to figure out how did you vote? (if you did) I read your magnificent poem. I think I know now.

    1. Thank you so much, my dearest Beckie. Your words have a special place in my heart. Lots of love to you!

      1. The pleasure is on this side of the screen too, my dear 🙂

  3. The power of pain is such a tool when it comes to writing. I can see it in your work. You take those emotions and weave them into poems, that sometimes melancholy, are delicately layered and beautiful. So much of what you do reminds me of songwriting. Although I’m not good at fiction, I do try to use emotion to fuel my words. Your words are beautiful.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. You made my heart beat faster. Most grateful to you.
Anyway I was trying to tell you about the collaboration, which I cherish, between me and a song writer. I will do it again another time.
Have a beautiful day and thank you again.

      1. No, he writes the songs, I write the lyrics. Then I recite. However, his ear is better than mine and he is wonderfully patient with me. From time to time I get “Gab, you entered too soon. Listen to the music. Do it again!” Lol. He is adorable and very talented. We are now working on our third collaboration. He is in Nepal so everything is done online which makes it pretty difficult. But we manage.
Know that I enjoy your music tremendously. I wish I could sing 🙂

      2. You are very generous with your compliments of my songs. Honestly, I write them on my couch, sitting next to my dog, then I go to my studio and try to record them for posterity. Do you have any of your collaborations on your blog?

      3. I am honest. I love your songs. I write my poetry with my cat on my lap. Oh, by the way, every time I listen to your songs she comes too. And she quietly listens. Kid you not. Understandably she love your music more than my poems.

Yes, I do have both on my blog. On the first one I like the lyrics, but he recorded in Audacity and I went through another app. The second one came out better – we both used Audacity, but the lyrics are.. Well, I do not know. We agreed that we need to raise the level of the game.
here they are one on his blog, one on mine

      4. Beautiful! I’ve just listened to both. I use Cubase 9.5 to record in, but I’m sure that they’re very similar. How did you record your voice? Did you send it to him, and then he mixed you in?

      5. Thank you! We are trying.
He sends me the song. I listen to it. I record my voice separately. Trying hard to go with the music. Then he mixes me in.

  4. Oh G, you outdid yourself this time. What an amazing piece of writing. From the opening line you snagged us in the web of your words and never let go. Every line glowed in its own personal beauty and depth.

On another note, if it were possible for someone to sail into the hearts of the misunderstood, who better than you, Captain.

Breathtaking in its painful beauty. I bow to you.

    Have a beautiful day.

    1. Ayyy.. Thank you so much, Drew. You outdid yourself too. You showered me with compliments. I am thrilled you enjoyed the poem.

“Captain”. Well, when I was a kid I told my parents: “when I grow up I want to be either a ship captain or pilot.” Lol. I really wanted to see the world. Well I saw the world but I did not become a captain or a pilot. I missed my chance. In my next life I’ll do it.

      Gracias de nuevo.
Que tengas un hermoso día, Drew!

  5. G, this poem imprisoned my heart with its barbed wire cage and asphyxiated birds. The rain of atrocities in fields of love. Sigh. I felt such deep emotion in reading this, sadness for those geopolitical atrocities and for individual wounded hearts. The terror of unspeakable war crimes.. and the intermingling with beautiful memories. I felt like if I closed my eyes I would be there…

And this: “the nothingness between your soul and mine”

This poem engulfed me. How can I even convey the effect? You truly are gifted.

    1. Awww, my dearest R. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful words. You conveyed your feelings because I feel them. The entire comment capture so well what I wanted to express.
Sending you love and good thoughts.

      You are magical!!!!!

      1. If I sounded in the slightest magical, it was because your words imbibed me with that magic . Sending love and good thoughts back to you, dear G.

      2. With me or without me, you are magical, R. That is what my heart tells me.
        xoxo

    1. As usually, so grateful to you Winnie for your beautiful words and for your generosity.

      1. Oh, you are so kind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    1. Aw.. my dear. I am really humbled by your praise. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    1. Thank you for your words and for your read, Charlie.
      Be well. Be blessed.
Waiting eagerly for your next post.
      G.

      1. Charlie, I do not know what else to say. Thank you again 🙂

  6. I’m entranced by these incredible lines, the whole poem is beautifully written
“with grains that grow within my palms
it rains the echoes of tomorrow”

    1. Thank you. I am humbled and delighted you enjoyed the poem.
      My very best wishes.
      G.

  7. “there is beauty in a wound” – there’s one in my heart now reading this, but it is a good bleeding of the heart – stunning poetry my dear

    1. Gina, thank you. I can’t find the words to tell you how much your words mean to me.
You have a beautiful day, my dear.

  8. The poem is short but carries a lot of meaning if scrutinized properly.

Such a profound way of writing. Love the beginning part of it( it rains atrocities on fields of love )

and the end part of the poem just made it look real again( barbed wire walls)

Thanks for giving me that mindset about emotion as you said in your poem explanation.

I still remain  the simple blogger…..

    1. Dear Patrick,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read. I am thrilled you liked the poem.
      Have a blessed day!
      G.

  9. Thank you for sharing your poem. There is intense emotion expressed, but there are examples of hope as well.

“it rains the echoes of tomorrow” was one of my favorite lines.

    1. Thank YOU so much for reading and for your kind words. I am glad you liked that line 🙂

  10. So many phrases to love, but I especially was drawn to “metaphor of us” and “I sail my boat into the hearts of those who are misunderstood” . Your writing intrigues me. Thanks for joining in.

    1. Aw.. I am humbled and delighted by your comment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
