Maria walks #poem #poetry

Maria is a little girl
who walks barefoot
across the desert
coyotes howl under the moon
Maria walks
her heart is small
her dreams are big
a cactus waves at her
and blooms
one day Maria will grow up
and she will buy herself
some shoes

  1. Good morning. Very sad the plight of Maria and so many others like her.
Gracious of you to take the time out to remind us that in a world of plenty, there
are people (and innocent children) in need.

    1. Good morning, Drew! I hope is a good one in NYC.
Thank you for reading. Indeed there are plenty of innocent children in need.

Still I wish you a fabulous weekend 🙂

      1. I have a dear friend who is a charmer (in the good sense of the world) 🙂
Too bad that my poems can’t make the rain go away 🙂

  2. Nostalgia! Evoked strong memories. Reminded me of my child labour years and when I finally got NCC shoes in 9th std. And was punished to walk barefoot again! For 10 km. Such is life! Great poetry. Loved it. 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your memories. It means a lot to me and I hope will mean a lot to my readers too.
Many thanks also for praising my work.
      Be safe, be blessed.

      1. Thank you so much for your kind words. they are warming my heart today!

    1. Maria’s story is simply the story of plenty of children; part of our world story
