i play the cello in the old streets
walls open wounds inflicted long ago
imaginary lovers contort in the air
and on my bow the grief of others
settles
i swallow tears and i play
the pain of those who cannot walk the streets
immersed in ecstasy and solitude
with all my sufferings
the walls i greet
till you’ll come out
and you’ll throw
a petty dime
right at my feet
@short-prose-fiction
I wish I was able to play an instrument.
🙂

Done.
If it’s “well done” I am happy 🙂
Good morning, A beautiful poem representing those voices who can’t speak for themselves. The invisible, long forgotten people, many of whom are afraid to do something as simple as walk the streets. (At least those are the sentiments that resonated inside me).
Loved the line about walls open wounds.
A very powerful write Lady G,
Good morning Drew.
Thank you for your beautiful comment. I love your interpretation, and as always I am grateful for your kindness and your support.
May you have an inspiring day.
Coffee ok?
Coffee? Impeccable timing.
My interpretation is probably due to noise coming out of D.C. (Enough said about that, I am not one to mix politics and blogging).
Have an inspiring day yourself. Stay warm.
I am glad to hear that coffee is good.
You stay safe and inspired too! 🙂
thank you again!
Beautiful.
Thank you kindly for your appreciation!
You transported me into the scene and *clears throat* I LOVE CELLOS! ♥️ Honestly, it was as if you plucked the words from my head and put them on paper… I think of similar situations while listening to orchestra music, but specifically on cello pieces. Happy Saturday to you, dear G! 🌸💕🤩

Another beauty G. 🙂
Thank you so much, Ash!
Love
Thank you 🌸
Another great triumph, G! Really captures the emotion that goes into artistic expression. The ending feels sort of ambiguous to me. The musician’s listener shows appreciation with the pretty dime, but somehow I sense that they only heard the surface of the music, not fully appreciating the depth of thought and emotion. It gives me something to ponder, which engages the imagination all the more. Hope you are having a wonderful evening!
Good morning, David. Aw.. triumph! Thank you so much!
“I sense that they only heard the surface of the music, not fully appreciating the depth of thought and emotion.” Or the musician’s listener thinks that the pain expressed by the player is worth only a petty dime. That assuming that the listener comes out 🙂
Thank you again! Wishing you a great Sunday!
