this sunday hurts #poem

this sunday
like a hurt bird falling from the sky
on a forgotten shore
like a cracked violin
in which green lizards nest in silence
like a sea
on which no ship has ever sailed
this sunday hurts
like a love letter
hanging
on a barren tree

  1. Good morning. Your vivid words painted perfect images of loneliness. The hollowness of the cracked violin, the sea no ship has sailed, the injured bird falling onto a forgotten shore.
Then, you ended this with the haunting love letter hanging from a barren tree. Such power in so few words. Bravo.

    Hope you are well.

    1. Good morning, Drew.
I am glad you are here. I was afraid I hurt you yesterday with my comment.
Thank you so much for the praise. It means a lot.
On another note, I hope the ritual of drinking coffee is in full bloom and the weather treats you well today πŸ™‚

      1. Hurt me with that comment? Are you serious? I am still laughing.

This little poem was perfect. You have such a talent for painting these strong images so perfectly with few words. A talent I hope one day I can acquire.

Yes, this poem accompanied my morning coffee. The world is right again. Smiles.

Who cares about the weather? Staying in to catch up with blogs today and prepare my post for tomorrow. Thanks for the much needed inspiration.

Make the best of your Sunday G. I hope it is full of countless smiles.

      2. Yes, I am serious. I do not want to hurt you.

I am glad you are ok, enjoying your coffee and reading.
I look forward to your post tomorrow and thank you for the praise again,.

        Have a magical day, Drew!

      3. Here is my perception of you from reading your poetry:

You are empathic, caring, and, deep. The power of the love in your heart can be as brilliant as the sun, yet as inspiring as the stars in the night sky. From your vivid posts of pain, I surmise you have loved and hurt (who hasn’t, right?). But you would never want to inflict that pain on anyone else. You have compassion.

Thus my conclusion; you couldn’t hurt me if you tried. Of course you could, but you don’t want to. That is not you G. Your heart is not capable of purposely causing hurt or pain.
You are very strong, but a warm and sweet person full of beauty on the inside and outside.
I hope life never changes you.

Hope I didn’t offend or cross any lines. I just felt the need to express the meaning of that little phrase “You couldn’t hurt me if you tried.”
I don’t underestimate you; on the contrary.
When I read your work and converse with you here in WordPress, I can see the reflection of greatness and beauty inside of you.

      4. Awwww….. Drew.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. High praise! I hope I can live up to that πŸ™‚

To be honest I got disappointed when I read an article in The Atlantic entitled “Why it pays to be a jerk.” πŸ™‚ Immediately I thought maybe I can take some classes on that πŸ™‚
        Anyway, have a fabulous day!
Looking forward to you post on Monday!

      5. Yes, I am. I am very sweet. I wouldn’t deny that πŸ™‚

Well… it took me a while to ignore it because they got “data” to “prove” that πŸ™‚

      6. Data….haha.
I firmly believe you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar…..oh, my God…G, now I now what I have been doing wrong.
        I have been attracting flies….Ugh

      7. Drew, let’s enjoy this Sunday!
I am thinking to go out again to my favorite Brazilian restaurant. I’ll send you same pictures πŸ™‚ I meant pictures of the restaurant. LOL
