profuse desires #poetry

rolling like waves on white marble sands

roaring like tigers looking for prey

howling like winds in gray towns of ghosts

resting on sofas like courtesans

praying like nuns married to Christ

tormenting my dreams

your raspy deep voice

dying for love

  1. So many different facets of desire and love you’ve captured here. Aside from the imagery evoked in your poem, it’s so lyrical, too. The line “rolling like waves on white marble sands” sounds like it could be in a song. Wonderful!

    1. Thank you so much for your generous words! Taking the time to read and comment means a lot to me.
Of course, I am delighted that you liked it!

    1. Tanya, thank you so much for reading and commenting. Your appreciation means a lot to me.
      Thank you again!

  2. Oh, God I love this.

Hello dear G. Everytime I am convinced I have read your best, you outdo yourself. The images were perfect. The words and desire so intense. Possessing a voice that becomes raspy, well, my imagination can smile as if it were meant for me.

Thank you for the magnificent write. I desperately needed this. You were on my mind today. After ten years, today I visited Calle Ocho expecting to find my Little Havana waiting for me. What a pain disillusion it was. The whole area was modern and commercial. Little Cuban shops and cafes were replaced by CVS, Taco Bell, and McDonalds. I actually called your name and thought I had to share this disheartening news with you.

Thank you for listening and mil gracias for this amazing write that brightened my night after a disappointing day. It was much needed.

    1. Good evening, Drew!

Thank you so much for the praise! I had a tough day so your praise comes at the right time. Again, very grateful to you!

Indeed the place has changed a lot. I still visit every summer but it is more a trip to my memory lane. Everything is commercial now. And that’s a big disappointment.

Hopefully tomorrow you’ll have have a better day.
Airboats in the everglades may cheer you up 🙂

Enjoy your evening, and thank you again!

      1. Starting my day with a smile Miss G.
Today is a trip down to the Florida keys. Yearly trips to Miami? How wonderful. This little trip has me thinking of relocating.

Have a wonderful day. Stay inspired. Your inspiration has been my writing fuel.

      2. Have a wonderful trip! Say hello to Hemingway’s cats, get a drink at Sloppy’s Joe, stop by Casa Marina, and watch the sunset from Mallory Square 😊

May you have a heavenly day!

I miss the keys every day. I will always miss them.
